Does being a Blood Mage in Dragon Age 2 have any bad consequences?  No spoilers please!  Just a yes/no answer, and whether it is even worth being a Blood Mage in Dragon Age 2.

No real consequences.

I'm not sure... I'd say based on the ridiculous amount of health of people... not really.

Well no one cares you are a mage strolling through town calling flames from heaven down on the sinners. Why would they care if you put a little blood in it?

No one I've noticed yet takes notice your a mage unless you state in talking to them.

Which is better/more beneficial though: Spirit Healer or Blood Mage?

I still like walking up the Templar's with my staff hanging off my back and chatting it up.

Or casting blood magic in-front of templar/guards/citizens and murdering a dozen waves of bandits and nobody runs screaming.

I think were like the T-Rex. We are only attracted to movement and the citizens know it.

You and me both. With the sole exception of one person [who shall remain nameless to preserve spoiler rules] NO ONE noticed.

I mean, there were a couple of people in the beginning who mentioned Bethany being a mage, but otherwise? Dude, I'm walking around in a mage robe with a mage staff slinging spells. What ELSE do you think I am?

Templars are the dumbest creatures on the planet, apparently.

Sprit Healer is God Mode I love it. Go full spirit healer and take as many party buffs as you can bring. Sucks you can't really use spells with this setup because it leaves just enough mana most of the time to cast 2 heals. But you can play on Hard and go watch some tv when your guys are fighting. Besides I just play merill most of the time since she is a way better blood mage anyhow with only having to raise magic and con.

I did both, and it's crazy. The SH passive Vitality(+10 Con, +100 Regen), is beautiful when combo'd with blood magic. I could cast all day and rarely drop below 80% HP, and when I did, I could use Grave Robber, Sacrifice, or toggle off Blood Magic and drink a potion or cast heal/group heal. It was the ultimate in endurance casting, and other than making a few fights boring, was a blast. The best part is you can do as little or as much blood magic as you want, all you really need is that SH passive.

I'm a Force Mage right now. Which goes better with that: Blood Mage or Spirit Healer?

Force mage is more cc, and blood mage is best if you install the mod that takes off willpower req on armor... that way you can pump way more points into con and make blood mage more viable on nightmare.

Honestly spirit healer is a lot more useful on nightmare then force mage, even tho I loved the 'biotic' powers.

Oh ok, if you already pumped points into willpower then I would suggest spirit healer.

The blood magic skills are cool, but you will honestly never run out of mana in higher levels anyway and you can just take waking bomb instead of the best blood mage skill, blood slave.

(not to mention the +10 con boost you get with spirit healer later on, which is better then the 25 extra health you get right off the bat with blood mage)

So should I go as a blood mage or spirit healer (either one with a force mage spec.)? As a mage, most of my spells are damage spells (elemental, primal).

Go spirit healer!

I was Force / Blood Mage to start and I can say that Blood mage is nice in the fact that it can control other NPCS to help you. Its a real life saver when your fighting multiple ogres but thats about it. The DoT is a little weaker than last game but still decent.

I eventually went Force / Spirit healer/ It helps to make sure that no one in your party dies. I took Anders with me all the time as the main healer. When we started to get overwhelmed Id start healing and things would be under our control again. With blood mage, when they get out of hand you have to be lucky. That life you used to activated a BM spell might just be your last. Ogres had a tendency to rush me once id put a dot on them. Thus making me wish I wouldnt have used that BM spell.

The 2 min CD on a team revive is a long time on the harder difficulties making me happier that both Anders and I could revive people.

Mage/blood mage is probably the worst class/spec in the game, if you consider that a consequence. I know I do.

If I was a Blood Mage, which other specialization goes well with it?
