Mods should work the same way on Mac as they do on PC; I don't know what the location to install them would be, though, as I don't own one. I believe the console activation information is available on the Dragon Age 2 section of http://dragonage.wikia.com

Any mod thats a simple drag and drop will work fine on either platform. If you can install it, the mod will work, this is true for most any PC/MAC game.

Doesn't quite work that way. For instance the console. Wiki shows 2 ways to enable the console. Neither one are valid options on a mac.
Option 1 tells you to do it by using a shortcut, which tells you to create a shortcut to a file that is not valid (a .exe file which is irrelevant on a mac). Option 2 tells you to edit a file that is nonexistent in the mac version.
Furthermore every mod I've seen (or at least been interested in trying) makes use of a program or file architecture that does not work for OSX.
I don't doubt there is a way to do it, but figuring that out would be over my head. Anyone have a tutorial on how to do it (enabaling the console)?

Why not run the PC version through bootcamp? Does the EADM allow you to download a pc copy with your Macintosh version key?

Mods work just fine, as does the console on mac version.
mods on mac go in
/UserName/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age 2/packages/core/override/
I'm currently using:
Ability restrictions removed (no 'X points in school required)
Exaggerated Bethany (because I love sweater kittens)
Funky Merrill (mohawk)
Hawke Hair Presets (lets you pick default Hawk hair, nutella, and Aveline's freckles)
Blood Dragon Armor replacer (warden armor)
and the High Res Texture pack.
Just by dumping the extracted files in the override folder.
The mac version is just a modified PC version in a customised Cider wrapper.
To enable the console on the mac version, you have to edit the Cider wrapper's config file.
/UserName/Library/Application Support/Dragon Age II/config
Drag it to textedit and right at the bottom, add
[AppDefaults\\\\DragonAge2.exe\\\\transgaming]
"cmdlineadd" = "-enabledeveloperconsole"
Unfortunately you cannot see the console text, but this is true for the PC version as well.

No one can see the dev console. You will know its working when you cannot move or do anything - you are typing into a console rather than interacting.
