Okay yes I know KOTOR 2 was made by Obsidian and not BioWare.

However when I saw the ending of DA2 the ending of KOTOR 2 popped into my mind. At the end of KOTOR 2 the protagonist goes off to where Revan is but nobody really knows where. Now in DA2 we here both the Warden and Hawke have seemingly both disappeared. Does anybody else see these similarities or is it just me.

Hopefully DA3 actually happens and not go the route of an MMORPG. It would irratate me to no end to see another great storyline dropped.

At least I am not the only one who saw it. I wonder if we do get a conclusion to the story it will be a sort of conclusion they had for KOTOR.

If so I wonder if Kotor2 is considered by in large a flop compared to the first Kotor...

Please do not try to turn this into a DA2 bashing thread. You have a wide array of choices to choose from in the No Spoilers General Discussion area.

This is the first thing I thought of when I saw the ending cinematic. The second thought was "I'd kill for some originality right about now."

Hardly a bash, I'm just saying a cliffhangeri n which the protagonist latches onto the first games protagonist  is not a good ending. Hawke should have stood on his own merits, he didn't need to run off with the warden to make the ultimate duo. I fully expected Hawke to be some kind of half demon  murder machine/human enigma from the trailer... I did not get what was advetised and the ending wasn't really a satisfying ending.

I believe it generally is considered to be a failure relative to the first one. It had a great deal of potential, but it shipped unfinished. One whole planet was cut, even though it existed half-finished in the game's code. Also, the final planet, Malachor V, was missing about 70% of its planned content. This is generally ascribed to the fact that the game came out like 10 months after the first one, and was rushed out for a holiday release. Several sidequests were left hanging completely (like the HK-50 droids, You can actually see the door that would have lead to the factory where they were being made, but there's nothing on the other side.) There's actually a letsplay out on the interwebs showing most of the unfinished content, and a group of fans have done their best to restore it (http://kotaku.com/#!...inally-finished)

That being said, I actually preferred it. It lacked two of my least favorite characters in videogame history, namely carth (okay, he makes a cameo) and bastilla. The crafting was expanded (but not balanced, meaning you could break the game really easily) and character customization was vastly improved, with higher level caps, prestige classes, and loads of more feats and force powers. They also definitely took fan feedback into account, and let you play as a jedi from the start. Additionally, you could make most of your team into Jedi over the course of the game. There was also one fabulous, but overlooked feature which was the ability to have two weapons sets which you could switch between without pausing the game. This meant you could have blasters, and then when it got close, you could pull out a lightsaber. The game SERIOUSLY lacked polish though, it would have vastly benefited from another 6 months of development.

There is no indication the Warden and Hawke ran off together somewhere, just that they both are missing and Leliana thinks its not a conincidence. I have my money on Flemmeth being the likely culprit behind both disappearances, and I think they're both probably dead.

I doubt they are going to be killed off screen like that. Especially Hawke.

Flemeth may be the cause of their disappearance, but there's no way that she killed them offscreen. In my opinion, she might have summoned them for a greater purpose in her classically manipulative fashion. That's not to say that she won't eventually turn out to be the antagonist, but she's way too complex to just murder established characters without some serious drama/betrayal/enforced questioning of preconcieved notions.

KOTOR was an unfortunate product of poor planning. I have no doubt that they intended to make a full fledged sequel, but Obsidian flopped before they were able to make good.

EA, while I believe we can all agree is not the most scrupulous of companies, is far more stable. Even with all their interference in Bioware thus far, we've still got awesome games out of them. So I don't believe we'll see Dragon Age suffer the same fate as KOTOR.

I'd like to think that this is a good idea finally realized. And that is an encouraging thought.

I still hate that we never got an epic single player KOTOR3 team up with Revan and the Exile.

DA3 with the Warden and Hawke with Flemeth/Morrigan/Old God Baby would be beyond awesome.

There's a lot I liked about Dragon Age II and a lot I hated. The mechanics, graphics and interface are improved, I loved that. The story and romances are horrible! The story is sooooo fragmented. Outside of the rogue, there wasn't a memorable character there. It's sad when the best looking woman in the game is your sister! A huge fail on that front. I think I'm done with the dragon age franchise, I just hope they keep these story writers away from Mass Effect 3.

I hope it doesn't go to an MMO, at least not until after we've got a game that plays through whatever happened to the Warden and Hawke and Flemeth. I actually wouldn't mind an MMO in the Dragon Age setting, which is pretty good, but I'm already planning on playing SWTOR.

I can see it now: TOR and DAL are tests for a DA MMO much like how SWG:NGE was a test for TOR.

WOAH!, woah woah woah woah. Your telling me the "Warden" they mentioned in the end of the game was the Hero of Fereldan?
