This game made me take a mental health day. (spoilers)

All this bad stuff that happens to hawke, I can't imagine why anyone would want to go through that, I did really truly have to spend an entire day recovering from the exhaustion of going through what hawke went through.

I'm glad we get to roleplay his reactions to an extent. With Carver and Leandra's deaths I was mashing the 'I failed you' options hard as possible.
But hey - your romance comes to visit you when Leandra dies. That's something.

That's totally why I left that soldier for the crazy girl with the affinity for tattoos.
I wonder if playing Hawke as amoral would affect the story much.

Hawke's life was hell, what more could be thrown at that poor champion?
Shh, don't challenge the writers. They might hear you. D:

Bioware I salute you on a great job of a sequel! nice balancing act of hack/slash, cave and dungeon delving, intricate story, lots of moral issues and all round much better graphics in game play and the cut scenes. But I will say WTF was that bringing Flemeth back for one damn scene if she isn't apart of the actual story other than helping the Hawk family escape? Thank you for the cameos of DA:O characters!

Hawke has the most depressing story in a Bioware RPG, calling it now. Though in my game Carver came to the Deep Roads, got tainted, and had to be killed by Hawke. That's even WORSE!

Ahem - if you take Carver and Anders along to the Deep Roads, you can save Carver if you want your Hawke to be slightly less depressed.

Ahem yeah but... You kind of had to know it beforehand and that sort of ruins the whole point doesn't it ? Plus my Hawke was just fine bringing Bethany along, without need for bringing an abomination who clearly stated he wanted nothing to do with grey wardens anymore anyway.
Yeah, turns out it wasn't such a hot idea after all, heh. But I think it made for a better story, I totally didn't expect it to happen then and like that.
Ah well, at the end of the game my Hawke still had two family members left, an uncle he had finally come to accept and a long-lost cousin, all was not lost. Yet.

I think the most fascinating heroes have to be thrown in the worst possible situations over and over again. Their strength is not from magic or weapons, but from how they cope with loss and agony.
Thats's those old greek storys talking.

I had to take several breaks just to keep from being slit-your-wrist crazy from all the emotional up and downs.
Is resorting to blood magic really the answer, dear?
I personally love all the angst and tragedy. There are things they could've handled better for more actual emotional impact, but overall the sense of dread and uncertainty was a nice touch. I kept expecting everyone to die or turn on me.
Poor Hawke. Whatever he/she does, things just go very very wrong.

Now that I'm thinking about it... aside from the thrill of defeating a particularly powerful enemy, I can't remember even one thing that I enjoyed while playing as Hawke. Hm... Maybe the writers need to learn when to ease up on the drama. You go through all that crap, and there are no "awesome" events to even things out?

I'd prefer if some of those events were preventable, but i guess DA2 took that "Dark Fantasy" thing more seriously than Origins. Things worked out pretty well for most of my Wardens
And being one of those people whose feelings go into the stomach so to say, this game will propably cause me an ulcer... Oh well, just have to relax with some no-brains-required FPS'
