So, this is something I didn't notice until my second playthrough, but my family's appearance never changes from the default no matter how wildly my Hawkes diverge in appearance.

This is kind of an annoying problem, given how the family changing appearance was a selling point of the game and all.
My family's appearance is stuck on the default

Hmm, is it supposed to change? I didn't notice this either.

It depends on which preset you use when you select your appearance. The first two presets were the default Hawke with and without the swipe of blood across the nose. Neither allowed you to change anything on the look. The third preset has the same base structure but allows full modification. All three result in the family keeping the default look. If you used a different preset as a base then the family should change; the first character I made used the sixth (I think), and both Carver and Bethany were noticeably different.

It wasn't. It only exists so players wouldn't think Hawke is adopted. If your Hawke is caucasian, chances are your family will have the default appearance.Kosh_Naranek wrote...

That's the thing, one of my friends has a white female Hawke and her family looks radically different.
And it seems you guys are right..Once I started using different ethnic meshes, the family changed. Kinda weird that one of the far right presets (the one with the red hair) still got the generic family, though.
Oh well.
