What I'd really prefer to see though is some type of Real-Time-Strategy game set in that universe. Depending on how ME3 ends it could lend itself well to that sort of game.

That's an idea I'd like to see myself. As long as all the factions are put in.

DICE (Battlefield)
Guerrilla (Killzone)
Insomniac Games (Resistance)

and others.

There's a lot of things that could be made into an FPS through Mass Effect. I personally think Mass Effect is Bioware's best franchise and they should milk it it for all it's worth (but not make it horrible). Also, because FPS games seem to be the most popular, it would be a good move to make a an FPS, as long as Bioware works with the right developers.

What do you think?

No, third person shooter is fine. In an RPG it is best to actually be able to see your character after you customize the armor and face.

 Plus, it is not its best franchise, DA has story and gameplay that are quite a bit more complex and interesting.

Fallout and Elder Scrolls you can see your character. And DA is subjective.

It could be done, but I don't think they would gain much from it tbh. The advantage to the third person perspective is that it allows them to do cinematic sequences while maintaining a constant POV.

 Of course they are going to make mass effect into a FPS,it's obvious not just because of the dumbing down of the franchise,but because EA pulls the strings,and lets face it Shooters like Gears of War,Halo and COD sell way more than Mass effect, and other RPG'S,and I am afraid as with most things,money rules so expect each sequel to be more COD like until the only difference is the characters and equipment,Bioware have sold their souls to the devil and there's no going back.
