im think that blue is the normal type that is ony able to realse energy
where as red can both realse but also absorb and store energy thus the more it has the stonger it becomes. or it blood magic made Lyrium trying to incresse the amount of power that can be used from it appearent the ''more power'' is a big thing to all powerful mages
