Mini Boss, DA:2 ACT 2

Was that Sten Sten? did i just kill the guy i spent 60+ hours playing the DA:O with.

Me no likey. What a horrible and ignominous end to a character that gave us so much in the first story.

Sten is a Qunari military rank, if that was Sten from Origins then I killed him over five times.

No it wasn't, Qunari don't use names, they use titles, Sten is the equivalent of a squad commander, hence why you fight at least 4 in DA2

If I'm not mistaken Sten is like a General. the Elite of the Elite in Qunari culture.

Sten isn't a name. Its a rank.

Even "Sten" Sten from DA:O didn't have a name. Sten was his rank.

Sort of like every guy nicknamed Sarge in the military.

Sten and Zev had a quick conversation in DAO where Sten says that his name is not Sten, it is his rank and that is enough to know because that is "who he is."
Crazy Quinari. :)

I wonder if Sten from Origins is still Sten. I imagine he has ranked up since we last saw him lol.

I don't think it works that way for the Qunari.

You know I'd laugh if one of the dozens of Stens I killed actually ended up being THE Sten.

No future DLC, no return in DA3, nope. He got killed by a fireball from Hawke during a generic side quest.

I just figured that maybe if they proven themselves enough they do gain status and get a bigger role to play in the Qun. But you could be right on that too lol.

They can definitely gain higher rank, but someone destined to be a warrior couldn't ever become like a cook. The Arishock even says so when you talk to him that people can choose to excell in their path.

I thought the same thing when i killed my first Sten. I was like "don't tell me that was THE Sten". I hope he does appear in the future. I was also thinking how disappointing I remember him being stronger than this.

I've always wondered that too about gaining higher status. So qun prohibits changing social roles right?

Yea' they state it in DA2 that one can climb within the confines of his position...so a merchant could become as an example go from cashier to boss to owner...as long as it falls in line with the line of work you were meant for. So DAO Sten could now be something else which wouldn't shock me for aiding in the defeat of the Blight

The Arishok was not born an Arishok.

YES! A lot of Stens! The Sten Army! On a serious note: It would be cool if Sten (from DA:O) become Arishok. Maybe he'll reform some of their cultures (aka Wrex) because of GW's influence?

have they ever explained the horns thing, or is it just being retconned in, that Quanari look like that?

Most Qunari have horns. Some do not, those that do not at put in the Qunari's of "Diplomats". Some Qunari who turn their back on the Qun remove their horns, but the developers have not said why.

I kept thinking Sten would've ended up being the Arishok. Although it wouldn't have made sense from a timeline perspective, I was still expecting the Arishok to at some point mention cookies.

I'm surprised the Sten wasn't with the qunari though, he was supposed to report to the Arishok after the end of the blight. I guess he went straight back to Par Vollen, which must have taken long enough already and then learned the Arishok wasn't here anymore and... didn't go after him ?...
