In between the fight with Meredith and Varric being questioned by Cassandra. There was the time of either running through the hills as a rebel mage or being Viscount, depending on who you sided with. The time is there, you just don't get to play it.

6 years from when Hawke and Varric met. 1 year before that. So only 3 years. And I think the interrogation takes place 3 years after. So, technically the ending makes it 10 years.

To be honest I totally forgot about the whole decade thing. I honestly thought that maybe 2-4 years went by.

Maybe Bioware forgot this as well.

That is what most disappointed me about this game...i'd have rather played more years then do the grind in the first year. Even a year as Viscount and or Refugee may have been really neat imo

I would only like to do vicount in this game if you could make some serious choices and stay around to feel the consequences. Kind of like Fable letting you be king and the entire city changes based on your actions. Of course they took their time making the game. Unlike some companies now..

Definately if they would have expanded on what they did in DA:A as Arl of Amaranthine being the Viscount could have been alot of fun...better then just seeing the templars kneel before you

They probably already have the next 3 years ready as an expansion or a DLC, I'm sure.

The sucky part is that they're going to shoe-horn us into leaving Kirkwall REGARDLESS of what happens because that's what Varric narrates at the end of those 3 years.

As a sidenote, if you side with templars do you automatically become the viscount? Or do you get the choice to just walk away?

I spent a lot of Act 3 assuming I was still in Act 2 simply because I thought I still had three more years left. The ending, while the most awesome thing ever, was still an abrupt and disappointing surprise for me.

I had an autosave that says "year 7" about after I accepted the final quest in Hawke's mansion.

I honestly thought I still had a way to go yet in the story, and then it ended, simply because of the 10 year span that was mentioned, as others have already said.

Too bad.
