I find hrofft to be a trol.
Why you think so?
I just ask Bioware to respect other people view - mine is not that EVERY romancable companion is bi or homosexual.

Bioware I get what you're trying to do, and it's good, but just make it a freaking option at the start of the game when you choose your gender. It is not hard to code all you have to do is a simple check against the sexual preference of the player when displaying romance options.
switch("sexualPreference")
{
case "gay":
showGayOptions();
break;
case "lesbian"
showLesbianOptions();
break;
case "bi"
showAllOptions();
break;
default:
showStraightOptions();
break;
}
I don't care about romances in games, it's sad and lame to me, but it's obviously a huge part of your appeal to a lot of people. Might as well do it right as not to **** those people off.
And where do they draw the line? do they add a section to filter racial content, religous content, dwarf content (some people are scared of us short folk you know) etc.
At the end of the day it is an 18 rated game and I think people just need to accept the fantasy universe the game is set in without trying to impose real world values, this game is set in a world where dudes bump uglies with each other and nobody cares or judges them for it, get over it already.
It honestly beggers belief that people seem capable of role playing in a game as a kick ass wizard shooting lightening bolts out of his butt and chopping people up in a bloody mess, but god forbid a man should look at them the wrong way in the game, here's a thought, how about trying to roleplay a character that isn't homophobic ?
I bet half of these people complaining have secretly tried a bit of man-love in the game anyway, I wish they had put an achievement in for all to see, i can just see it now.... Achiement unlocked 'I kissed a dude and I liked it'.....

I don't see that it matters that the content is present. If you don't like it then don't try to romance people of the same sex. It is really that easy. I have had no problem getting any of the NPCs to 100% friendly without ever choosing the romance option for them. There is PLENTY of opportunities to raise their friendly score without trying to sleep with them.
Its ok that from first lines of new companion he offer gay sex?.

In reference to the example of the two characters? That was intended as a counterpoint to the player isn't "punished" and used as an example. If that is what you are referring to. Most of it is more a general thought as to how to run it in a better situation. Personally I think that there should be divides. Which is also why I thought the individual achievements in Origins for relationships was stupid. Better to roll them all up into one.
@GregirusMaximus
Unless you are implying that culture also contains an individual's personal experience then it doesn't confirm it. A culture is something derived from a group of people, not from a single person. Now if I held the U.S. southern state bible thumper mentality that homosexuals are evil and an affront to God, then you could imply both upbringing and cult. But thankfully I have enough free thought to figure out that particular line they site is more of an attempt to increase the surplus population than anything else.
Had to have people to fill the coffers and all!
And I'm not sure how doing a job to get payment, then being nice when things go south warrants being overly nice? Damn, I need to be more of a ******.

Yeah, This isnt my name and dia2blo are right. The most relevant concern here is that it *might* too overtly sexual period, and if some think that detracts, that is a fair opinion. I don't accept that it's fair to say this is an issue of homosexual or bisexuality.
But you know, the title of this thread is "the DA2 homosexual content discussion thread", so it's already opinionated in that direction

Did you miss part that "EVERY romancable companion is bi or ******"? Or that they offer gay sex openly from start?
p.s. I am not irritated if women hits on me too, but if men in RL i would probably break his finger, slowly, not out of anger but just to educate manners in society.

If I proposed such a switch with respect to the color of the skin of the companions, people would correctly address me as a racist. Why I'm not a racist if I propose a switch for sexual preference?

Most people are not so reserved or old fashioned, and either way, it's Bioware's universe. Are you saying they should change it to suit your personal tastes? Now that is narrow minded.

Also, the dumbed down dialogue options really didn't help matters. In an ideal world, there would be lots of dialogue options for every conversation (like in the good ole days). Then amongst them, there could be romantic options, and they could be not limited to hetero only, so whoever is playing can romance whoever they want. But when it's so forced and rushed like it was in DA2, it's just stupid. Although pretty much the whole game felt forced and rushed.

Agreed (except the guy bisexual part, really ? why cant guys be bi ?)
I don't mean men necessarily can't be gay. But I've never heard or known of a male that is bisexual. Any guy that's claimed to be bisexual (that I've known) is simply embarassed to say they're are only homosexual. I don't mean to sound offensive, it's just my observation. Either way it's not remotely a significant issue for me. But having everyone be bi? That just feels too artificial.

You are either a troll or someone incredibaly ****ed up, either way stop posting.
If I was at BW I would reference you in a game "Hroftt the gay sexual drawf deviant". The character would be so in your face about his homosexuality and when romancing you he breaks your finger because he is into S&M:ph34r:

I'm fine with there being gay sex in the game, but I find the "romance" to be pretty lame in these games. It's not really romantic because it's just so spoon fed and lacks any kind of subtlety or magic or... romance. It's not sexy either because there is no nakedness or real physical lovin. So I don't see the point of even having it. I could imagine it being worthwhile if there was a true love story between characters, but that doesn't happen. I thought the "romances" in Baldur's Gate and DA1 were not too bad, because at least they had some time to percolate. In DA2 though it seemed very forced and very lame.
Also, the dumbed down dialogue options really didn't help matters. In an ideal world, there would be lots of dialogue options for every conversation (like in the good ole days). I find that odd, purely because I personally enjoyed the LI much more. I won't post spoilers but I felt as though it affected more than just the immediate situation- they would be there for your character during emotional situations and such. Also, as far as the achievement goes anyway, it doesn't just end with sex; something that has irked me a lot about recent Bioware romances. This time, it goes way beyond that, and due to the passing in time allows the relationship to develop and mature. (This is all off topic and IMO however.)

The reason this is such an issue is that there is a clear penalty for not partaking in homosexuality in DA2. There is an implied value judgment when my choices end in a negative result. THAT is someone telling me what I should prefer.
I really think you're reading too much into it.

I think we understood each other.
Anyway as long as in RL people behave and not insult each other (by talking about parents in bad way or open offer gay sex or etc.) there can be good friendly relations.

I'm gay, but I dislike the "everyone is bi" route they went with this game. If it works for everyone else, that's fine but I'm not a huge fan of it.
Sebstian is actually straight.
I think it fits to the other characters to be bi, like it wouldn't have fit for Alistair in DAO.
