how exactly do their rights harm your rights? I should respect your 'opinions', as you so benignly put it, because they differ from mine?

Correction: for insulting by openly offering gay sex.

Their right to offer it shouldnt hard my right to avoid some people offering things like this.

Insulting is subjective, some people are insulted by being called gay, others call themselves guy. Its your right to be offended, its not your right to live in a bubble.

You dont even now what your saying anymore, your just adding "rights" wwhere you want, here is something, your rights are non existant, keep thinking you have them though, it wll hold up well in court.

Once again, my right is not to be disturbed by people who disgust me with offers that are unacceptable to me.

I must have missed that update to rights, does that mean women have the right not to be hit on by men ? NAd men not hit on by women they dont like ?

Heard of sexual harrasment? You live in West, you probably should have. Ask "lawyer" who is in this thread :)

p.s. Would you like unknown men coming to your mother for example and offer sex loudly? I think there should be some limits (including offering gay sex to normal people).

great job in changing your argument there. From a gay guy hitting on you to a group of people openly sexually harassing your mother?

you cannot say to someone "stop posting", it's in his right to write what he wants unless he gets banned, what you can do however is to stop answering him, that will be more effective ;)

If you do not play the game as such there is no homosexual content at all. If you are a straight woman, romancing Fenris, he will be a straight man. If you are a straight woman romancing Anders, he will be a straight man. If you are a straight male romancing Isabella, she will be a straight woman. Ander's bisexuality only comes out if you initiate it. Same with Fenris.

If you are going to complain about characters in your video game being gay, then stop initiating it by clicking on the ♥ options.

That's as far as I see homosexuality and how it relates to this game and it's content. The way Bioware handled it is fine and gives everyone the option to play it and be as homosexual/hetrosexual as they personally choose to be.

It was example of unacceptable behavior. That affects your right not to be harassmed and insulted by offers of actions that are totally wrong for you.

p.s. I am talking about RL ofc. In teh internetz things are different because some people know its not possible to easily reach them and ask to back up their words )

You all from Europe, by the way? Or someone is another country?

I never knew men in your Europe think its ok from some ****** to come to them and offer gay sex and etc.
Can they also offer childporn, etc. sick things?

I guess its difference in culture, but it would be even worse if instead of Eu, you was born in cannibalistic African village, so now you would tell how its Ok to eat people... Good that i live not in Eu with ****** is OK, or africa where cannibal is OK.. Feeling lucky

The reason this is such an issue is that there is a clear penalty for not partaking in homosexuality in DA2. There is an implied value judgment when my choices end in a negative result. THAT is someone telling me what I should prefer.

First and foremost, I am not a homophobe and I don't necessarily object to the content in the game - I just avoided it.

However, given the following statistical facts:

Source: http://www.advocate....e.aspx?id=41389

"According to the
poll, conducted every presidential election by Edison
Media Research and Mitofsky International, 4% of this year's
electorate self-identified as gay, lesbian, or
bisexual, the same percentage as in 2004"

If it's even double that, 8%... Is that enough of a percentage to include so much potentially objectionable content in a video game?  Before people go ranting about my numbers, other studies have shown similar outcomes.

So what exactly are you saying? If I see one action as totally unacceptable, I should agree with everything you see as unacceptable?

i don't think your rights prevent gay people from hitting on you ( as long as their actions are from without the confines of what qualifies as sexual harassment ).

If you view Anders coming onto you and saying "You have a soft heart under that scruffy exterior. Am I making you uncomfortable?" and think this is totally unacceptable homosexual behaviour, then why should I agree? Because I wouldn't like a gang of people making offers to my mother?

I'm gay, but I dislike the "everyone is bi" route they went with this game. If it works for everyone else, that's fine but I'm not a huge fan of it.

I agree that making everyone bisexual is a bit much, but then again ... I was really frustrated that the option of romancing Jack with my femaleShepard in ME2 wasn't open, mainly because it meant that I wasn't free to choose who my Shepard was. It's a lot easier (for me at least) to relate to a character, if I get to choose things like that.

+ I honestly think the (real) world would be a happier place if everyone were at least open to bisexuality. Some people might think I'm a horrible person for saying so, but in being open minded about your sexuality you might spare yourself and others a lot of bitterness and regret.

For me as person gay is same unacceptable as rape and childporn and etc. things that i find unacceptable.

Offering any of this filth to me is insult.
Not sure if offering any of this to you, is not insult, maybe you will even welcome such offer, but for me - it is.

I've got no issue with it at all, I think it adds a good bit of flavour to the game. Saying that though I was annoyed when I got +10 rivalry points for Anders by turning down a gay relationship with him.

I for one support Bioware's decision that enables the player character to romance all of the LI characters. Every time I look up fan made mods for Bioware games, one of the most popular ones I come across is the option to romance love interest characters that would have no interest in you because of your character's gender, like the female Warden romancing Morrigan in DA or the female Shepard romancing Tali in ME2. And it's not like Bioware didn't consider these options before. Lair of the Shadow Broker has audio files that clearly have Shepard speaking romantically about Miranda, Jack and Tali to Liara.

And really, the relationships aren't bi. They're player choice sensitive. Anders is straight if you're female, and gay if you're male. And if you don't want any relationships with those characters, try something else. There are always other options.

So hats off to Bioware for taking that step. I hope that they continue to do the same thing in their future games because, why not?

I know most of you mean well, but you are feeding the troll here... and this will for sure get the thread locked.

Please try to keep on topic :)

@ Hroftt, are you trying to say that you don't want there to be any kind of homosexuality in the game, or do you just not want characters to make advances at you, because you find that insulting?
If so, should the game not include people who want to kill you? that is kind of insulting as well
or npcs that was to sell you items you clearly have no need for?
npc offering quests you do not want to partake in?
We all get that you do not approve of homosexuality, you are very clear, but you haven't added anything to the topic so far
ps: Europe is not a country... you make it seem like you think it is, in one of your posts..

I haven't completed the game yet, but none of the characters have made any advances so far. There haven't been any romantic stuff at all unless I click the "Heart option" in conversations, but I agree with previous posters say that you shouldn't be openly penalized for turning someone down.

I don't mind gay relationships in game. But what I don't like - that BW made it everyone bi in game. That's kinda silly and unrealistic. Not to mention shallow.
Characters companions in rpg games should have richer personality , effort should be made. I hate to bring it but in BG2 think there was one companion (mauybe mroe dont remember ) who was bi (or les dont remember). So beign bi / gay / whatever should be part of personality , story / etc bringed with character and not just happy 'everyone in game are ok with sleeping with every gender lazy approach' BW did.'
