It's a very personal matter and heavily depends on your very own attitude on that issue. I can fully understand if you see getting hit by another man as something positive and complimentary, but I feel offended by such an advance as I am heterosexual and do not want to be mistaken for another sexual orientation.

I don't consider homosexual men inferior to "normal" men, actually, 2 friends of mine are homosexual, I just do not want to be considered homosexual by anyone and thus do not want any advances from anyone...this also applies to the games I play.

What I cannot bear, however, are those (rare) clichée homosexuals who go out on the streets and need to tell everyone that they are "special" because they have a different sexual orientation...you don't see anyone heterosexual doing the same, do you?

And please, leave that "homophobic" term out of the discussion. It's a very offensive term and basically, you could coin it the other way around and say that every heterosexual is "heterophobic". Thanks :)

I must say I share Hrofft's opinions.
And I too do not like to see this ****** relationships included in the game. I find it is disgusting.
This is my opinion. Or are such opinions forbidden now?

No you can get off your "persecution" horse, d*ckhead. You can say what you like, but people will just insult you for being retarded. It's how freedmaspeech works!

You know, you can kill any attempts at flirting after the 1st time by choosing the option that has a broken red heart. After that they won't flirt with you anymore.

If you don't choose that option, then you're just leading them on, so they're gonna keep flirting with you until you give them a definitive response.

So.... if you're really bothered by homosexuality, don't lead them on. Just nip it in the bud asap. Unless you like their attention.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Wow, wake up this morning and the same conversation.

If you have a problem with gay content, just don't pick the heart comments. As far as I'm aware you only have to suffer through 10 seconds of Anders hitting on you before your game can return to being happily straight.

If you have a problem beyond this, obviously your real problem is simply that there is gay content for others to enjoy that you don't really have to see or partake in. The posts of people being offtended and outraged are just veiled homophobia; if you can't handle being hit on once for 10 seconds in a video game I really hope you don't live anywhere near any major US metro area.

No your opinion is not forbidden. But don't be suprised that the opinion of other people towards you might suffer. They might think your an idiot, 12 years old,  have a mental disorder, are very intolerant, married your sister or other signs of being a very conservative christian. I always wondered though what do 12 year old retarded conservative christians do with this game in the first place?

And there is no excuse for speaking (writing) bad english, if you can't do it stay away or accept the critism. Btw, that's just my opinion.

I 100% approve the introduction of all bisexual characters. I think its ground breaking and important. For once I get to play a game where I can actually have my choice of LIs. I can't thank Bioware enough for this aspect of the game and I hope future games are also like this.

I tell you a secret... having someone making homosexual avances at you does NOT make you gay

The only reason to feel "offended" is if you think it is somehow an insult, in which case you probably do think it is somehow inferior, whether you care to admit it or not.

Ah well... old debate is old. Personally, I give kudos to Bioware for finally giving this option to players again. I'm sorry it's made some people uncomfortable, but maybe the problem is theirs and not Bioware's.

What annoys me about the "gay" content in this game isn't that it's homosexual content, that part is fine.  It's the way they implemented it, with a gay option for every LI.  Bioware games have always been about playing the actions of a central individual amongst many NPCs whom you can't directly control and who have well-defined personalities of their own.  Having no definite sexual orientation for any of the LIs breaks this mold and is inconsistent--through the player's choice of Hawke's gender and dialogue, the player can have any of the LIs be either gay or straight.  Why was this particular aspect of the companions' personalities left up to the player's preferred interpretation, when nothing else about them is?  The lack of defined preferences that are out of the player's hands diminishes each companion's identity.

No. There will absolutely not be any more insults simply because someone has a different opinion from you. You may disagree with them, but the Site Rules of Conduct are in effect at all times.

As this is a sensitive issue, it is prone to people from both sides forgetting how easy their tempers can get the thread locked. And it will not be me oppressing anyone from being able to discuss the topic, it will solely be to prevent further disregard for the rules you agreed to abide by when you started posting to these forums.

Ofc it's typical. BW/EA can put gay stuff in games but in the real world they will react like anyone else, it's an opinion if you find it disgusting and you are free to express that. If you call hetero's names that is not accepted, but calling gays disgusting is just fine.

The post right above yours says that is unacceptable. So we're clear.

So we can't call prejudiced morons on their prejudices and idiocy?

But they can use terms like "sausage fest" and "disgusting" and compare "homos and normal people"

Because I want to defend Bioware for breaking ground, but then I get to come on here and be told I'm disgusting, without recourse.

Thanks.

Being completly civil to Anders I gave him a response that I wasnt intrested without being nasty about it and basically lost friendship umm wtf are you trying to tell me I cant be friends because thats not my sexual prefference. I dont like Anders in the first place but he just came across as sexist :P

It could be said that the loss of friendship "points" reflects how hurt he is that you flat out rejected him?

cant remember how the question was said but it was along the lines of would It make me feel uncomfortable I answered as I said in the most civil manner that it would allow. since prior to that conversation thier had been no hint of sexual innuendo, no spark of romance glimmering in the words exchanged nothing to lead him along its difficult to see how he could justify a flat out refusal warrents the loss of friendship especially when he can see my character being flirty with the ladies only, before the subject was brought up..

The post right above yours tells the person that the post right above his that such behavior is unacceptable. Sorry I don't have time to read through the entire thread and relay warnings to individual people about how they've been behaving so far. What I can do is tell them that there will be no further insulting in this thread. But if you want to have a discussion about homosexual content, you will have to accept that someone is going to disagree, if they can manage it in a civil manner. Otherwise, I'd just lock the thread.

I don't see that it matters that the content is present. If you don't like it then don't try to romance people of the same sex. It is really that easy. I have had no problem getting any of the NPCs to 100% friendly without ever choosing the romance option for them. There is PLENTY of opportunities to raise their friendly score without trying to sleep with them.

Its ok that from first lines of new companion he offer gay sex?

Its ok that all companions that can be romanced, are bisexuals or homosexuals? Yes, all of them.

Why, yes. Yes, it is. Do you have any more questions, Hroftt?

I've always been a strong proponent of same-sex content in games, and I have to say, I think DA2 probably implemented it better than any other game in recent memory. Origins was a big step forward after Mass Effect, but DA2 pulled ahead by opening all the four LIs to every orientation. Options are always good. :)

I'm also a huge fan of the flirt icon. There's really no way you can trip a romance by accident. Characters will still hit on you (and for those complaining about male advances, I believe Isabela's the most forward of any companions, and even she's pretty easily rebuffed without any consequences). I really don't understand how people can find even the flirt options uncomfortable. You don't have to click on them, you don't have to see the content if you don't want to. It's the best compromise, IMO.

Anyway, I was super-pleased with DA2's handling of this issue, especially after ME and ME2. I was also happy to see that more of your companions had a response or banter about your relationships, same-sex or otherwise. This was something that was missing in Origins, where more people would comment on Alistair or Morrigan's relationships and less on Zev and Leliana's. This was a great touch, and made me feel closer to my companions, as they really seemed involved in my PC's life.

Interesting. I honestly hated it. Until you really get to know somebody, personal interactions and romance are a mystery. The icons took all that mystery away. The thought process basically goes like this:

1. I want to romance this character.
2. Click Heart.
3. Click Heart.
4. Click Heart.
5. Romance achieved.

I understand why they did it (to avoid another ninja romance, Zevran/Liara-style), but even that clearly didn't satisify the anti-s/s crowd judging by the posts in this thread. Personally, it just seemed shallow to me.

I just find it amazing how sensitive some people are here. FACT people in life will not like you for some of the choices you make, regardless of what those choices are. So how about you stop complaining and crying "Everybody picks on me whah whah whah." and just grow up and develop a spine. You all have been ruined by political correctiness (probably not a word w/e).

EDIT: That being said, I dont mind that there ARE ******/bi romances in the game, I just dont think they should out number the streight romances.
