This is simply about the story and the characters of DA 2.
I love games with a story that pulls you in and characters that leave a lasting impression long after Ive stopped playing.
I was afraid that DA2 was not going to have any of these things. When first it was annonced I was excited then the first trailer was shown and I was a bit angry who is that guy with the red eyes and were the hell are the Grey Warderns??
Even when the gameplay videos were shown and I was buying the game solely for the purpose to see more of Fenris I never had any high expectations for this game.
Finally got it last week Friday and I played it and to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement.
Your companions are the star of the show and its not even the usual suspects of Varric and Fenris..
Merrill words cannot describe how endearing she is even though you cant help but think of the proverb "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" whenever you do her quests.
Aveline the fierce guardian who might know her way in the battlefield but is a novice when it comes to expressing her feelings..
Isabela in her own words loves bigs boats and cannot lie had me laughing out loud whether she was teasing Hawke or Aveline and pursuing a friendship with her was oddly gratifying
Anders has changed for the better his VA nailed it from the sarcasm and dry humour to the emotional moments I couldnt help but want to help this conflicted mage..
Fenris, Fenris, Fenris soo hateful and distrusting towards mages with a forgotten past ..Soo frustrating to earn his friendship especially if your views are different but its soo worth it the end.
Varric and Bianca in the words of Fenris its disturbing his attachment to her but found after sometime playing even I was getting attached to that couple..
The story is engrossing surprisingly enough with no "big evil".To see the decisions even the smallest ones you make during the side quests 3 years ago catch up with Hawke were the big moments for me.
There are emotional moments with the companions quests as well as Hawke that left a lump in my throat and had me asking why would the writers do this to my poor heart.
The voice acting and soundtrack needs a mention and the theme for the Qunari is great especially when you first talk to the Arishok and if you didnt get goosebumps when Meridith and Orsino are first introduced to Hawke then there is something wrong with you.
Bioware did better than good on this sequel and I know this thread might get closed or lost among the other threads here.
I just want the writers and the devs to note this with all the warranted and unwarranted criticism they did an amazing job with the story and thank you for making me care about The Champion and his companions even when I had doubts I would..
My god this is long but I hope one of the writers or devs will read this or better yet someone who was undecided on whether to buy the game..
