Primal Lyrium Rune - Who did you use it on?

I got the Collectors Edition Strategy Guide, and it suggested Isabella might be a good choice, however since I didnt have her, I decided to put it into Hawkes 'Final Thought' Staff. (Black Emporeum)
I was pleasently surprised,
He ended up like Yang - The Last Airbender, twirling and spinning that Staff and moving at lightning speed.
And Because his attacks never miss, with mage staffs, and The Final Thought staff is unique in that it doesnt actually fire a projectile, which causes the impacts to occur instantly, I feel I found the best home for the Rune.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for the home of this rune?

Hmm...I would have probably put it on my warrior (probably still will when I do my second warrior play through). Hmm...that makes me wonder if I can make a warrior who moves fast enough that it leaves after images.

You need to have a high friendship with him in order to convince him to hand it over without him having a temper tantrum.
If he keeps it, he gets +3 slots on Biancca.
If you keep it, You get the Rune after giving the shard to Sandal. - Enchantment!!!!!

Varric was in my party all the time anyway, and I kinda liked the idea of having "machine gun" backing.

Selfish bastard that I am, I threw it in my Blade of Mercy. On my Berserker/Reaver, with Barrage, Fervor, Haste, and the rune, I was an ungodly force of pure death: my attack speed made Isabela look like Oghren.
THIS!
LOL, especially if you can combine it with the rune of devastation!

mostly because I don't want DLC items to not make it into any future expansions a la what happened with Awakening.
I thought only the Warden's Keep items didn't transfer correctly? In fact, I'm sure of this because my Warrior starting Awakening naked whereas my Rogue definitely was using Duncan's dagger.

I'm pretty sure that was only for DA:O, since attacks from any weapon never miss in DA2, they just glance.

I think the way it was worded or stated, was along the lines of
Armor Rating will help you to miss the full brunt of a physical attack.
But Magic from spells and staves never miss, and as such, you must make use of Magic/Element Resistance to resist them.

Now, what I assume is that Mages are subject to double penalization when using elemental based weaponry. They have to pass a Attack or Glance check then another reduction based on enemy resistances. The same thing should happen to Rogues or Warriors using elemental weaponry (like Bloom).
The easiest, testable example I can think of is the beginning of the game. Darkspawn aren't, to my knowledge, resistance to any particular school and you have access to both a Fire and Cold staff in the prologue, and yet sometimes you hit for 1-2 and other times 8-12.

I let Varric keep it, and Bianca only gained two slots. And, his armor lost all slots. ;_;If he keeps it, he gets +3 slots on Biancca.

Really? Thats what happens when you let Varric keep the shard huh. A waste really since Varric, if specced right will have close to 100% crit anyways. You can't socket more than one rune of devastation and crit runes are wasted as I mentioned before.
As for where I socket my Lyrium rune, I cheated. I gave myself several and socket them into Bianca and my primary weapon =p

Is Sandal's Rune worth saving for your end game weapon as well?
On an end-game weapon, it gives like 37% haste. I'd say yes.
