Favorite: Merril. She cracks me up!

Least: Anders. Nothing about him interests me.

I haven't yet finished the game though, so this might change.

Favorite: Varric, followed by Bethany, Merill, Aveline and Isabela.

Least: Fenris. That guy just annoys me. Felt good to strike him down in the end with his templar friends after his constant complaining about Bethany in act 1.

My favorite is Fenris

My least favorite is Anders. He is so unbelieveably rude. He called Fenris a "dog" and said that he was suprised that Avaline actually had a brain!

Favorite: Merrill for being the living incarnation of adorable and sweet. Anders for being a badass libertarian freedom fighter (at least until his SPOILER SPOILER moment, which lowered my opinion of him drastically; still, he's an interesting character).

Least favorite: Isabela so far. She just seems vapid and uninteresting. This may change, though.

I actually liked all of the companions. They all seemed interesting to me, which is why I was a bit sad that there's not much talking with them at all apart from the basic details and a couple of romance lines. If they had the same amount of dialogue for them as the companions in Origins did... That would have been awesome.

I didn't really agree with Merrill though. I thought she was being stupid messing around with the Eluvian, demons and blood magic. And in the end we had to kill her whole clan for her idiocy... Perhaps it would have been Merrill's life instead if I had given her the tool to fix the mirror.

Varric, hands down my favorite. Funny, not bad looking for a dwarf and with a sweet, almost self deprecating humor. Who DIDN'T laugh when he walked in to confront his brother (the first time)? He was like Rambo, Chuck Norris and Robin Hood all wrapped up in one. It's like he's almost DARING Cassandra to kill him at that point. He has the best banters with everyone, taking all their convos up a notch or 3. Plus you get little things in the background and wonder JUST WTF is he telling poeple about Hawke??? "Sleeping on a bed of dragon bones and using the Vicount's head for a gravy boat?" VARRIC!!!

Least favorite would have to be Janders. Different voice (and Cullen was voiced by Greg Ellis so WTF Bioware?), different face, different personality and a complete madman driven round the bend with his experiences. I found his character disturbing and a lot more touchy than either Justice OR Anders were in Awakenings (where he was my second fave companion). Plus he was too preachy, harping on me for my LI (Fenris).

Can I also say I enjoyed Meredith more than Loghain? There was fanaticism taken to an entirely new level of crazy. I wouldn't say she was a favorite or a least favorite, but she was an interesting villian/antagonist. LOL even Cullen was a voice of sanity compared to her!

Fave: Varrec, personally I think he is one of the most original characters in the dragon age games.

Least Fave/hate/apathy: A tie between Isabella and merrill

Least: Anders (from the first moment I met him in game I did not like him) and Fenris ( Reasons abound from his treatment of Bethany and Merill, etc. but when I found out how he became what he was it totally threw out ANY sympathy for him I had, from then on it was just 'stop your whining').

My favorite was Isabela, very funny party banter. Varic was ok too but he got annoying to listen to in fights after a bit.

Least favorite by far was Meril. She annoyed the crap out of me. Tried to ****** her off as much as I could, and still in the end she was not far into rivalry. As a character she's just clueless. I don't like her in a party much, and she seems to ****** off most of your party if you side with her in anything.

I loved Aveline, Varric, Isabela, and Merrill. I liked Fenris. I hardly ever used Sebastian.

Anders I disliked purely for gameplay reasons at first. I specced SH and typically ran with Aveline, Isabela/Varric, and Merrill. Trading Merrill out for him typically made encounters less fun for me so I always saved his quest for last and never switched him in just because.

Then he went batty and I told him to shove off.

My favourite is a tie between Varric and Fenris, I honestly can't decide who I love more. I keep changing my mind depending on my mood. Fenris is intense, tragic, damaged, and HILARIOUS -- what can I say? Dry humour is my favourite. But Varric ... how can you not love Varric. He's the team mom and everything he does is for their sake and he's literally a Dwarf Bard, that's something new. Both of these characters elevated the game to such heights for me, I love them more than everyone in DA:O combined.

My LEAST favourite? I don't even know. I tend to say Anders, but I think Anders is the best written and most interesting character in DA2. His descent into paranoia and madness and the path that lead him to the horrible **** he ended up doing ... it was all so, so, so well done. What he did at the end raised the game's "art points" by like a thousand. But I just can't forgive him for it, and I can't forgive how he refused to see that what he did was awful. This is a new thing for me. I never dislike a character I see as well written, being well written and being likeable is synonymous to me!

to preface, i love all the characters in their own right, but if i had to choose....

i really like bethany. if she wasnt my sister in the game, shed almost be the perfect girl for me. i love it when she giggles at my jokes lol. ok uh... i like isabela quite a bit but for different reasons. shes fun to go around with...

i never used sebastian. i wanted to like him but he just didnt click for me. fenris might be good in another playthrough but he started to annoy a little bit and i did find some pleasure in destroying him, easily, when he turned on me. i also miss the old anders. hes going through some rough times right now, so im giving him a chance and hopefully he returns to form in the future.

My favourite would be a toss up between Carver and Anders - I loved the way they actual felt like a real younger brother and a guy on the verge of doing something drastic.

My least favourite was Sebastian - in part because he seemed less developed, but also because after one of his personal quests the first banter dialogue I heard from him was the "we should turn in the apostates" one with Fenris which (given that my Hawke was a mage) made him seem petty and ungrateful.

ups - varric, great dps, he marks stuff for the party, he's got his awesome bianca
down - fenris, overall lame synergies with his spezial tree...

story wise
ups - varric, cuz he freakin' tells the story and got the tony montana referance in his houseraid part
downs - merril, anders, sometimes i think the templars got a point in killing those appostates (at least the ones that already are abominations/ possesed/ oe using bloodmagic... except hawke, cuz you are awesome)

conversation wise (random talk)
ups - varric/ fenris, varric/merril, aveline/isabella, isabella/sebastian, even isabella/aveline
downs - anders in generall (he preeeeeeeetty ****ed up compared to awakening)

Merrill was my favorite... her naive and sometimes stupid comments made me laugh.

Didn't finish the game yet, but so far:

Personality wise:

Favourite: Varric... Rambo moment anyone? ) Closely followed by Aveline (hey, she was the easiest to get to full friendship), and Fenris.. oh, that voice... plus he suggested Varric's beard may have fallen on his chest

Dislike: Anders.. what have they done to my most favourite mage of all time????

Good to bring along for fights:

Like: Aveline (my femHawke is a mage, so I need a tank), Fenris (got his tactics just right, and he kicks ass on hard ), Carver (once I got the tactics in place... very nice, little bro), Sebastian (for somewhat reason, his tactics work better than Varric), Anders (he's a great healer)

Useless: Isabella, Merril (since I'm a mage, plus she annoys me)
