Favourites: Carver- it is extremely hard to win him over, and he is a bit of a jerk somtimes, but I had a real soft spot for him. He comes through in the end....
Anders- Although I didn't like his little stunt at the end, I thought he was a pretty cool guy.
Fenris- He was a bit of a jerk about mages, but I thought he was pretty darn adorable sometimes.
Aw, heck, I like most of 'em really.
Least Favourite- Merril- she is so selfish. If you don't give her the uh...thing to fix the mirror, she acts like a total jerk, then she gets her keeper killed because of her selfishness. I liked her until her quest in Act 2.

Favorite: Aveline. She's great in battle and I like her "strong but shy" thing. I feel like she might be the only companion I may eventually come to have a connection with.
Least favorite: Merrill. She's just all kinds of creepy. Sorry. Sebastian is close behind Merrill. The dude is sexy (especially his voice), but he's such a tool.

I hated Fenris the moment I met him. Screaming like that in a mansion as he entered each room. Would you shut up? I'm right beside you, I don't want to go deaf. Also, he would never talk to me whenever I'd go see him so I just stopped going to his mansion.
I like Merril, she's funny, but I'd say Aveline gets in my favorite list because I seem to include her in all my games. Plus, she came from Lothering with me, so we've got a good bond.

Favorite: Varric and Fenris. they pretty much tell you like it is, except one is nicer than the other
Least favorite: Merrill. girl gets on my nerve to the core. I dont like characters that stubbornly whiney the whole time.
and maybe Anders. it would've been fine but he had to stab me in the back like that

but if i had to pick a least, fenris for getting mad at EVERY SINGLE GOOD CHOICE I MAKE. i mean, "I GET IT MAN! YOU. HATE. MAGES."

Favorite Merrill. Surprising, as I thought I would hate her.
Least Favorite: Fenris. Snoresville. It would have been Carver, but what he did at the end for me was decent coming from the lad.

Favorite:
Varric. He's the Garrus Vakarian of DA2.
Second: Isabela. Romancing her can truly change the storyline. Too bad you can't do more naughty things with her.
Honorable Mention: Bethany. She's the sister and a useful mage.
Least favourite:
Sebastian: a chantry dick. no thanks!
Merrill: Damn blood mage who can't even understand how wrong it is.

I liked them all but Anders pissed me off the most. And Carver. They both whined constantly.

Varric becomes a total bro once his friendship is full and Fenris is a total bro either full Rival or Friend. I thought it fitting that on my first playthrough he ended up being full rival, It made sense seeing as how we were both two handed warriors.DaneWolf wrote...
My favorite companion is Merrill. She's so clueless it makes her cute.
My least favorite Companion is Fenris. He's acturally so borring I sometimes even forget he's in the game!!

Some of the most amusing dialogue for Fenris comes between him and Sebastian as Sebastian gets him to reveal that he has a faith in the Maker. I also like how Merril, Varric, and Isabela all mess with Sebastian about his shiny armor. LOLBlaznZero wrote...

I almost always bring Varric and Merrill along. Varric is funny, Merrill adorable and both a pretty good at dishing out damage.
Aveline is usually my go to warrior as Venris is a bit whiny and his hatred of mages is annoying. Sebastion is a bit too preachy and pious for my liking. With my rogue, Bethany was a good mage to have along but I lost her to the Wardens after the Deep Roads expedition (haven't progress far enough with my rogue to see where that goes) but Carver was annoying with his jealously. Isabella is good to have along too, especially with Aveline, those two go at it so much, it's hilarious!

Favorite: Carver. I almost cried when the wardens came to take him away. I missed him a lot.
Least: Isabela. When all is said and done, almost everything out of her mouth seemed to be a lie.

Favorite: Varric. He's pretty much the perfect side kick, and he is the only party member I have with me at all times.
Least Favorite: Isabella. She is just way too damn skanky. It essentially defines her character. Oh wait, she is also greedy and a drunk. And ENOUGH with the goddamn sailing innuendo already. It was moderately amusing the first time, but it got old REAL fast. I undestand that Bioware wanted "sex appeal" in DA2, but they did just fine with Miranda in ME2 without her being a total skank. She's also a total **** to Aveline for no apparent reason.

Favorite: Merrill. Just because she has such a tragic story in the game, and she's so awkward, which makes her hilarious.
Least Favorite: Carver. I know he was probably meant to be a rival character all along, but he goes off and joins the templars during my Fem!Mage Hake play through, and he's all like "She tries to make everything about her!" and I'm just like "Wooow. Douche."

I'm actually a little bit dissapointed in the Anders hate.
Best Dragon Age character.
Of all time.
Sorry Alistair.
Oh, and least favourite is Fenris. I'm biased, you can say.

Favorite is Varric. Second favorite is Anders.
Not sure I have a least favorite character. But maybe Carver. I get it that you feel that you are in your older sibling's shadow. You don't' need to say it almost every single time. Isabela comes close. She would have been definitely if she didn't redeem herself in Act 2.

Favorites: Varric, Fenris, and Anders. Varric is just awesome/funny, and Fenris is emo but honest and has a consistent personality. Anders is a character that you can love or love to hate. Sure, he betrays you, but if you followed the romance with him you can't say that you weren't warned time and again that he'd "hurt" you and whatnot. Even Varric gives Hawke a warning about Anders when a romance is pursued.
Least Favorite: Merrill - Super inconsistent personality. She seems naive and awkward for the majority of the game, but suddenly becomes very articulate and stern when anything about the Eluvian comes up? It seemed like a very strange personality transition to me.

Favorites: Varric and Aveline. Varric for me was the Alistair of DA2. Great bud to have at your side, and much more it touch with the reality of what was going on. Aveline was just a strong character. While she was naive at some things, when it came down to taking care of business, she was good.
Least: Anders and Fenris. I enjoying taking them both out. Fenris was too one dimensional and Anders was just flawed all over. I understand the Justice thing, and thought it would play out more like a split personality. Could have been interesting that way. But that was a writing failure.

I really liked all of the characters, even the ones I didn't like. They were good as characters (even if they all needed twice as much development) and any hatred stemmed from disagreeing with their beliefs
My order:
Anders > Merril > Varric > Aveline > Sebastian > Isabela > Fenris > Carver. (Haven't done a full playthrough with Bethany yet)
Yes, I'm on the unpopular Anders wagon, I just really felt for his torment and his demon possession issues, so sue me

Favorite: Merrill and Aveline. Merrill reminded me of Liara from ME, smart, socially awkward and connected to something bad. Her accent sold me the minute I heard it, and I enjoyed trying to understand her perspective.
Aveline is strong and shy, but there is also some grief to her. Watching her fail at trying to date Donnic was just too cute.
Least Favorite: Fenris. I get it, you were abused by mages and you hate them, but If there are 2 mages in my group and both of them are bound to demons, why are you still sticking around?
