There is quite a bit of polarization going on right now and I have a question to those who generally disliked the game. Whatever reasons you disliked for, how long did you play Dragon Age 2?

Please respond with one of following:

-Demo only.

-Only to Act 1(around 10 hours).

-Only to Act 2(around 25 hours).

-Only to Act 3(around 40 hours).

-Beat the game.

Please be honest! And this is only for those who are dissapointed with DA2! Image IPB

I disliked playing the game entirely. I liked the story and cameos however, which is what kept me going for 40+ hours, and the ending left me pretty emotional.

I finished the game. I finished it on PC and tried to play it on console but only played the first act on console. The lack of auto-attack is a deal breaker.

I personally didn't find the game too short as I completed as much as I could find and clocked in at about 50 hours in the end. My issues are with the substance of the game itself. For example, with the waves and waves of enemies with large HP bars that are thrown at you that end up making the game seem longer than its amount of content would dictate.

The game is no where near as long as 40 hours. I did like 70% of the side quests and completed it at around the 27 hour mark.

19 hours. =/
Let's face it, the side quests are a drag. Except for the two which included Nathaniel and Zevran.

I liked it for about 5 hours , then it dragged for the rest of act one until the deep roads. I liked the deep roads, but then I get to be an errand boy again in act 2. I'm currently on act 2 I've got till friday to finish the game, but not a lot of motivation to do it.

Pointless sidequests + waves of trash combat = gamer fatigue.

Not so with storytelling and pace as your question would imply. It's how it was delivered in some gameplay areas that got me disappointed.

Finished the game. I won't say it's horrible, terrible or worst game ever! For me it's just a poor to average effort from Bioware - sad when I know they can do far better. I found the story to be quite boring to be honest and the fighting woefully arcady and repetitive.

I did not see Zevran but maybe that is because I imported a DA:O where I killed him lol

Back on Topic I beat it but I was not disappointed yes there were some slow areas but you need to remember this is a personal story a rags to riches story basically personal story family story but imho everything had a purpose.

I disliked most aspects of the game. I beat the game, but it was a struggle to find the motivation to finish. I only bothered because I knew how short it was.

The sidequests are so much better then in Origins are you serious?

Get 10 garnets you know how many playthroughs I had and never finished it!
Origins has very little sidequests that are awesome DA II has way better ones.

-Beat the game-

Everything before the ending(in terms of story and character developement) WAS AWESOME!
The ending is bu**ship- all that build up and we get the f-ing "To be continued" thing WHEN THEY DONT EVEN KNOW IF THERE WILL BE ONE!
At least hawke isnt a brick like Shep... Thank god for that. If only the ending and the other aspects of the game were above the muddy bottom of the murky lake...

I'm not sure if I count as disapoinment person, I'm still playing the game and gonna finnish it in this week.

I'm now in act 1, doing some random missions in Kirkwall. While I like many ways the game, I'm missing motivation to play. Mostly because story seem to be missing, where's my goal of this adventure? I'm just doing quest to get forward, but don't really know why I'm doing it. Like just survive trough dayly life.

They're all the same though. Someone has kidnapped "X" go kill "Y" and save him/her.
Help me clear our "X".
Collect these "x" and deliver them to me.

It feels like an mmo.

After completelng the game there wasn't much I was impressed with, and thats because I put Bioware on a high pedastal...well I did. This game is beneath many developers today and the reality that it has Biowares name on it is stupifying. There was too much importance put on VA, and combat that hindered the overall development of the plot. And because I went into this game seeking a rich story with an interesting yet provocative apeal, instead I found something that reeks of mediocracy, and dollar signs. Whats odd to me is there was still plenty of DLC that could of been put out for DAO which could of subsidized Bioware long enough to produce a far more superior product.

I'm in Act 3 and I have 45 total hours played right now.

I hate this game.

Its just terrible.

I originally started playing on nightmare and now I'm generally on either casual or hard if I get super bored. Not because Nightmare was too hard....... but because I'm tired of dealing with massive battles with enemies materializing out of nowhere.

I feel like I'm pulling my teeth when I play it but I have to finish it out of respect for Origins.

I feel cheated and robbed. They should rename the title as its certainly not Dragon Age 2.

Beat the game.

There were things I liked and there were things I did not like. I'm still trying to decide which was more important.

Beat the game as a Rogue, doing every single quest that I could, and repeatedly exploring areas to see if anything new popped up, so my hourly total was high. Halfway through Act II with a Mage right now.

DA2 has me really torn. One moment I'm thinking 'ugh I hate this' and the next 'this is awesome' (while playing) because there's bits that shine and bits that stink. And the lists of both are long and full of detail, but which has a heftier weight?

Right now I'm playing it (for the second time) because I positively adore companion interaction (both interacting with them and their banter between each other) and I'm finding such a different tone with my Mage. My Rogue predominantly used the blue convo choices, my Mage the purple, and it's making things different enough to keep my attention.

Now I just wait and cross my fingers that DA2 can be modded and that mods will come to adjust what I consider the stinkiest bits.

People are allowed to dislike something, I for one extremely enjoy DA2 but I know not everyone will.
What I don't like is people shoving there opinions down are throats and trying to push it as cold hard facts.

demo only. Sent my pre-order back this morning as it was to late to cancel.

Everything really. PS3 player and its dumbed down to below intelligence levels. Press x, oh press x again and again and again.

Didn't like the new combat, teleporting rouges, jesh!

Graphics wise no real improvement over Origins.

The more I heard about the game from the US players the more I knew I wouldn't play it, the 3 days delay for the UK release where a god send, gave me a chance to see the feedback on shortness of game, re-hashed area's etc etc.

Get my money back and buy something else.

Pretty much done with Bioware now, played Origins to death, and still play it now. Over 40 characters so far across my 2 accounts.

If they go back to the Warden story for DA3 I may jump back in.

ME3 not interested, didn't play the others.

I beat it and I didn't like any of it, it was like someone took D&D online, condensed it into a single player game with less of a city to run around in and then forgot to add enough npc people to make it feel real. Hawke's lack of careing about anything after the fact just makes me think he emotionless and shallow, and the exploding people were just bleh.
