There is quite a bit of polarization going on right now and I have a question to those who generally disliked the game. Whatever reasons you disliked for, how long did you play Dragon Age 2?
Please respond with one of following:
-Demo only.
-Only to Act 1(around 10 hours).
-Only to Act 2(around 25 hours).
-Only to Act 3(around 40 hours).
-Beat the game.
Please be honest! And this is only for those who are dissapointed with DA2!
Question for the disappointed people

I´m still in Act 1, around 17 hours and doing the sidequests. Hardly any story at all and the only significant character interaction was when I finished the "Birthright" quest. The games I´ve played with that kind of estructure are usually very good in exploration, DA2 however is quite bad there. And then there´s combat, most of the fights consist in running away from the spawn points so that the party won´t be overwhelmed from enemies out of nowhere.

According to steam Ive played about 26 hours, I'm surprised I thought it was more like 10. Maybe I've kept it open without playing.
Still trudging about in Kirkwall doing the odd job. I find it hard to keep interested but I'll give it another go today.

Act II, 20 hours in. Nothings happened besides a few minor plot points, the combat is both frustrating and mindless at the same time (didn't think that was possible before this), and I can't interact with anything. I'm done.

No a clue, I didnt know the game was split into 3 sections. I just thought those watercolour cutscenes were...well another type of cutscene, use dwhen a good amount of time had passed. i made no mental checks of how long I had played at each one.
But I got to the end in about 24 hours. I WAS doing tons of sidequests at first, untill I got hit by the massive boredom of the same places over and over so I chose to purely do the story after then in the hope of some mental stimulation.

Close to finishing the game, hated the demo.
Love the stories and the characters, but finding the gameplay awful..

Beat the game in about 20 hours.
Interesting how people feel the need to repeat how much they dislike the game WHEN ASKED TO GIVE ONE SINGLE INFORMATION.

I beat the game and it didn't take 30+ hours. Unlike DA:O where my first play through was near 70-75 hours. And yes I did do everything possible.

Beat the game. Just doesn't compare to origins. Merill and varric kept me going, and a need to finish a game.

Beat the game, clocked in at somewhere around 24 hours if I remember correctly.
The story was decent enough, I guess. Not really to the standard I expect of a BioWare game, but then also not surprising considering how short the development time was.

PC - Demo and so far up through Act 1 almost at 2. I'm enjoying the game quite a bit, to be honest, in spite of my disappointment. A little more polish would've alleviated most of my issues, ie, I can understand reusing the same textures and art style for similar areas, but do you have to literally use the same exact cave, sewer, mansion etc? It's only act 1 and I'm already sick of it.
Also, I loathe the encounter design. Every battle plays out the same: Face one wave of enemies, another respawns either on top of my party out of nowhere, dropping down from the roofs or funneling through the very alleys/passageways I've already cleared. Assassin level enemies with boss health and defense levels that randomly one shot your DPS/healers aren't particularly compelling, considering even when you begin to damage them they just chain potion to the point where their health bar might as well be triple what it shows up as. Why is a rogue beefier than an enemy with a sword and shield?
My final disapointment is somewhat minor: I don't really see the point of importing. Aside from a few cameos that shed no real light on what decisions I made in Origins, the connection to the first game is pretty light - which isn't a bad thing I'm just not sure what the point of importing is? Maybe for Dragon Age 3 - or maybe that comes later.

Let's face it, the side quests are a drag. Except for the two which included Nathaniel and Zevran.
The sidequests are so much better then in Origins are you serious?
Get 10 garnets you know how many playthroughs I had and never finished it!
Origins has very little sidequests that are awesome DA II has way better ones.
They're all the same though. Someone has kidnapped "X" go kill "Y" and save him/her.
Help me clear our "X".
Collect these "x" and deliver them to me.
It feels like an mmo.
Is that not the same as Origins? I seriously don't think Origins had quests that where any different.

I beat the game once, then stopped playing at the beginning of act 2 on my second playthrough. I just went back to origins.
I'll probably be able to play DA2 again and enjoy it when my disappointment morphs into acceptance. Its what happened with ME2.

Beat the game as a Rogue, doing every single quest that I could, and repeatedly exploring areas to see if anything new popped up, so my hourly total was high. Halfway through Act II with a Mage right now.
<snip>
What build did you use ?
Dual Wield, full Assassin with a dabbling of Shadow. Assassin is crazy beastly with high Cunning. The Arishok had no chance.

I beat the game. - PC
Just wasn't left with the sense of accomplishment/excitement I was with my usual bioware games. I kept hoping it would get better but it was just kind of an ok experience. After DA:O and pre-ordering in January, it was just so not worth hyping myself up. It was also not worth losing my weekend ... Just wasn't honest to what I thought Dragon Age was about. I ran through Assasins Creed:Brotherhood on the PS3 recently, and as a sequel I think it stayed true to what it was, DA2. Not so much.

That is because your epic ending that does the whole written out epilog isn't there, it's on your writing desk at home in the form of letters. Ending in DA:O was like the ending of a movie, where they tell you what all happens after. Endig of DA2 was more like that one scene after the credits, hawke opens a letter and it says, "Hawke dude, sup homie, thanks for helping me not be dead and all my and my sister are in orlais now you should totally visit."

Act II
Not Finished Yet
I can't really give an opinion since for some odd, yet strong, feeling that this is more of a "Let's see how they like this s**t" project more than a sequel...
If that's really the case, i hope they got what feedbacks they need to make a "REAL" sequel

Act 1. Played it a friend's house to see if I would like it since I wasn't impressed by the demo. Waste of time.

I'm in Act 3. My negative impressions are not improving the longer I play -- they're just being reinforced. I'm going to try and finish it but it's a bit of a chore at the moment. I may switch to easy from hard just to make it all go faster as combat isn't all that interesting (waves of monsters spawning in one after another isn't my idea of fun combat).
