Everything before the ending(in terms of story and character developement) WAS AWESOME!
The ending is bu**ship- all that build up and we get the f-ing "To be continued" thing WHEN THEY DONT EVEN KNOW IF THERE WILL BE ONE!
At least hawke isnt a brick like Shep... Thank god for that. If only the ending and the other aspects of the game were above the muddy bottom of the murky lake...
Really? They are milking so desperately? Lol.
Not going to buy.
(I played 5 hours if I remember correctly. Will however finish the game.)
Edit: But I recommend you peeps buy it. It will be made for you, and you will like it.

I don't dislike DA2, but it's a HUGE step down from Origins. In the beginning everything sounded good (voiced protagonist, a more personal story not related to the Blight, "improved" combat, framed narrative, etc.) and, knowing BioWare, I was really hoping for an immersive RPG experience. I was wrong.
I tried to love DA2. But there's so many things about it that reeks of BioWare's laziness in developing the game. Recycled areas, random encounters that don't mean anything, recycled areas, mind-numbing quests that make up half of the game, recycled areas, overall unpolished game design, recycled areas, and did I mention recycled areas? I haven't even mentioned the things BioWare promised in their marketing and is now nowhere to be found - auto attack on consoles (I play on PC), revamped finishers (they said there were finishers and DA2 and that even mages would have them, where?), companion's clothing changing over time (changes are barely noticeable), etc etc.
And there were already like a dozen DLCs even before the game was released. C'mon BioWare, show your customers a little respect, would you?
I hope BioWare takes a good look at my post because, no, I'm not a DA2 hater. There's a part of me that's still hoping BioWare would be kind enough to "fix" the game via free patches. But I figured that isn't going to happen. Let's just pray BioWare learns their lesson from all this.

Beat the game in about 20 hours.
Interesting how people feel the need to repeat how much they dislike the game WHEN ASKED TO GIVE ONE SINGLE INFORMATION.
It is better to tell to BW if you want to have even a theoretical chance to get a better game with your $60 spent to gaming.
Last time (with DA) they used statistics and made conclusions like "since only a minority of the players finished the game there is no need for us to spend time doing real content".

If this is the price needed to be paid from a non-linear quest then the price is too high.

Act III and I am in a point of getting frustrated with the game. The player is just a gofer running some errant tasks for different people. There is no story or plot to speak of. Being a gofer isn't my idea of fun roleplaying. I prefer a story driven game like in the KOTOR or NWN2. Is the non-linearity gone too much in the heads ?

There is quite a bit of polarization going on right now and I have a question to those who generally disliked the game. Whatever reasons you disliked for, how long did you play Dragon Age 2?
Please respond with one of following:
-Demo only.
-Only to Act 1(around 10 hours).
-Only to Act 2(around 25 hours).
-Only to Act 3(around 40 hours).
-Beat the game.
Please be honest! And this is only for those who are dissapointed with DA2!
I stopped playing shortly after getting to Kirkwall. I got tired of that ridiculous combat, ugly (yes, ugly) graphics and my forehead started to hurt from the constant facepalming.

Looooooooooot of enemy´s that die with a hit but there is a loooooooooooooooooooooot like if U cannot have a decent one or few, just come and come and come enemys from nowhere. apears like if an helicopter cross the sky and drop them.
the places, 4, and U walk arround those same places for all the missions, so boring. like... I was here ten min ago... or why this place in some other part of the mountains looks like the other one, but... exacly like the other one?????
I hate so much cant put better armors to my allys.
missions. go and kill like a millon ppl and return... what is that?? and with allmost all the missions.
My mages dont heal automatic sometimes. have to do it manual cuz they go crazy and try to heal then not then yes... and is just a big bug.
one of my allys apears on my home, and was all the 2 last acts there with a symbol of quest in her head and i cant do nothing.
been forced to end the game and leave 2 missions cuz nowhere, no one says that if U acept the mission you have to end it and cant do the rest.
really, very desilusioned.
but it like my b-day gift. now i regret.
have to have another name this game. there is nothing like DA:O and awake.

I'm in Act 3 and I have 45 total hours played right now.
I hate this game.
Its just terrible.
I originally started playing on nightmare and now I'm generally on either casual or hard if I get super bored. Not because Nightmare was too hard....... but because I'm tired of dealing with massive battles with enemies materializing out of nowhere.
I feel like I'm pulling my teeth when I play it but I have to finish it out of respect for Origins.
I feel cheated and robbed. They should rename the title as its certainly not Dragon Age 2.
I think you have no idea what the word 'hate' means . Playing something for 40 hours you hate is idiotic . Either you actually enjoy it but not as much as you would like or you are an idiot ?

There is a lot in this game that I don't like. I really would like more customisation of my party, and I hate that I have to wait to go and speak to party members to develop relationships. But, overall, now Act 1 is out the way, I really like this game.

There are some puzzling issues with the game (bugged quests, recycled areas when this was a MAJOR complaint from ME1, lack of being able to equip party members without having to go through multiple load screens and so on) that leave me thinking that BW is not the company that it used to be before going under the EA banner. So far the games that have come out (this one and ME2) seem to be lacking the usual BW standard of excellence, suffer from similar complaints and are not distinctive as BW products used to be. It does seem that BW is not being innovative anymore but following others which is a shame.

In fact, I hated it so much that I'm going to play it again on a harder difficulty, just so that I can hate it even more.
I'm even going to buy all of the DLCs just so that I can come here and complain about how much I hate those too.

Beat the game as a Rogue, doing every single quest that I could, and repeatedly exploring areas to see if anything new popped up, so my hourly total was high. Halfway through Act II with a Mage right now.
DA2 has me really torn. One moment I'm thinking 'ugh I hate this' and the next 'this is awesome' (while playing) because there's bits that shine and bits that stink. And the lists of both are long and full of detail, but which has a heftier weight?
Right now I'm playing it (for the second time) because I positively adore companion interaction (both interacting with them and their banter between each other) and I'm finding such a different tone with my Mage. My Rogue predominantly used the blue convo choices, my Mage the purple, and it's making things different enough to keep my attention.
Now I just wait and cross my fingers that DA2 can be modded and that mods will come to adjust what I consider the stinkiest bits.
You summed that up really well.
There is a lot of good... but a lot of bad also. I'm too am trying to figure out which weighs in more... I'm only in Act 1 though so we'll have to see...
I will say this... I didn't like the idea of Mass Effedt 1 until I started playing it and it "won me over." When I started playing Mass Effect 2, it seemed to take steps forward and no steps backward.
That seems to be a defining difference between this sequel and a lot of others. Right off the bat there are tons of things I hate about it right along side tons of things I love.
Let's face it though... this game was moved even further into the "console games" style direction then it was before. It's a well know fact that "console gamers" (ie xbox, PS3, etc.) have a lower IQ then PC gamers (say around 85 IQ points average according to some studies.)
This is not meant to be negative of console gamers... I mean hey, the world needs ditch diggers too, I just wish Bioware hadn't decided to drag a great franchise down to a lower level just to make a few bucks.

There were things about the game I liked, but there were so many other things I didn't like or weren't implemented well, that by the end I was rather burnt out on it and didn't care for it. The lackluster ending just increased the disappointment.

I started getting tiresome at about....10 hours in. Combat was repetitive and the enemies spawning out of thin air is just annoying.
I feel that the ending is ....not satisfying.I mean...nothing that we find out in the previous chapters gets resolved.Hell it's a bad ending.
I also find silly that if you roll a mage....templars you come across say nothing to you even though you flash your magic in front of them and even more because one of the main if not THE main motive of the game is Mage vs Templar fighting :/
It kills the...realism of the world.
Also the lack of actual choice.I hate how the game pretend that any of your choices matter.
There are many many things in game that...just happen no mater what we do.I would understand if those things are closely story related and can't be avoided but they are simply not that important that the story would stop functioning if they get changed.
Also some of the characters ....just...I don't see the reason they joined my group.

The main story(is there one?) is thin on the ground and seems stretched out to try and make the game longer than it really is, hence the keep doing uninteresting side quests to get x amount of gold otherwise we'll run out of game time.
