Hello there, friend. Stay a while, and listen. As gamers and fans, we can be a very picky bunch. It's not always easy to tell if the game you picked out is a sure hit for you from the beginning. For example, I was highly reluctant at the beginning of Fallout 3 of where this was going, exactly. But over time at one point or another, it was love. <3
So now we reach the question, forumites. When did you know it was love? The first time you launched a geth in the air with your mind? Solved a moral dilemma? Or perhaps you just had a hard-on for Tali. Regardless, let me know with some posting below.
I was probably hooked simply by the banter between Kaidan and Joker at the start of ME1.. I mean, come on, Carth and Seth Green joking around on a space ship? It doesn't get much cooler than that.
The opening sequence, literally the first few seconds of the game had me... I instantly knew this was going to be a wonderful experience.
Honestly, who can't watch this introductionary sequence www.youtube.com/watch and not immediately be drawn in? I don't want to meet the person who isn't, there's something fundamentally flawed with that individual.
Well, I showed it to my brother and he got bored One of those people who prefer re-hashes of 25-year old nintendo games over storylines. But yeah, it's a great intro. The citadel scene is also nice, nuav ;p

Ask your parents if your brother was dropped on this head shortly after birth, there's something very wrong with him
and yes the simple fact that ME is an actual "universe" (like startrek) grabbed my attention, ME1 and ME2 are simply the greatest sifi games I have ever played on my PC since quake 2.
When Wrex said "Don't ****** in my ear and tell me it's raining!"
No seriously, I don't really know. All I know is, suddenly I actually gave damn about the characters and their story, and that was something that hadn't really happened before. After that I was completely hooked.
The trailers for the game were blowing me away, and I was a big fan of Bioware so I definitely had high hopes for the game. But what made me go, "Dude, wow, you've got to be kidding me!", was when you were made a Spectre and suddenly the game gave you the ability to be this total badass who got to fly around the galaxy fixing problems your way - be it paragon or renegade. That was just cool.
Yeah the intro had me hooked right away. That synth build-up in the theme song right to the reveal of Commander Shepard's face. Probably one of my favorite moments in gaming.
I wish I could erase Mass Effect from my memory so I could have the first time experience of it again.
I started with the second game, completely blind, and honestly... the intro blew my mind. And learning the game's combat the old-fashioned way kept me coming.
But I will always remember the day I looked up ME2 vids on youtube and realised that the different classes are DRAMATICALLY different in gameplay. Thats when I got super-hooked.
I was actually excited after the first 10 seconds of background music. It made me feel like I was about to start an exciting trip through a huge uncharted galaxy and that's exactly what ended up happening. And considering that the last game I thought would provide the space exploration feel was Sins of a Solar Empire, which was anything but, I can say I am happy I clicked 'Buy Now' for ME.
I don't love ME2. Being TIMs toy was wtf for the story line. 2 became bearable and nicer when Tali and Garrus joined the team and even more so when they were both LIs. For ME I loved ME right after I got my Specter status and even more as I got to learn about the crew, world, and hunt for Saren.
