I have two points of critic, and solutions for them too, maybe you bioware guys can fix them with a patch =)

First:
As a bloodmage i dont need willpower (cause i need no mana) i need magic and constitution. But all off the mages items (except staffs) need magic and willpower, so (if i want to wear them) im forced to spend useless points to willpower, and that makes my bloodmage weaker than a mage who is specialised in other schools and who can put all his points to willpower and magic.
Solution: donte make willpower a requirement for the magesstuff or let a char who is specialised in bloodmage use his constitution attribute instead of willpower (equal the magic - strenght thing with the arcane warrior in DAO)

Second:
All the mages-set items and many of the none set items add points to attack. Im a Mage, i dont need attack (correct me if im wrong please). And many of them add mana too.
For me it seems that the guy(s) who were responsible for the mages equipment were not aware of the fact that a mage dont needs attack. and that there are some kinds of mages who not even need mana, for me it seems that unlike the items for a rogue who let you specialize in crit chance/crit damage, defense and/or a great pool of stamina, the items for a mage were all to be ment to give every kind of mage a bit without a way to specialize (besides healer or damagedealer). As it is now, for me most if the mages equipment is just useless, except that some of it looks pretty cool (like the overseer set).
Solution: Delete the points to attack stuff and give us something like + to magic or + to willpower or + to constituion or + to manaregeneration or + to life regeneration or such things and make the items more unique like this is good for a spirit healer, this for a forcer, this for a bloodmage, this for primal, this for entroy asf. give us opportunities to specialise and not this "thats not good for you, but average for everyone stuff".

Thank You.
