Right-Clicking Cursor-Jumping

Hey all. A little problem relating to the camera here.

I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit, DirectX 9 and full-screen. The game runs like a dream aside from when I want to click on something and make it die. When I right-click over an enemy, the cursor disappears (presumably because I'm now able to move the camera) but when I instantaneously release it, the cursor ends up moving a bit to the right, which always makes my character walk to the location that the cursor decided to move to. This only ever occurs when playing and not, for example, in the menus, so I'm very certain that it has to do with the camera. I tried to move the camera controls off the right-mouse button, but the game doesn't appear to allow it.

There is a temporary workaround in tapping the "R" key to attack the nearest enemy, but that doesn't lend itself to the tactical approach I want to take. Has anyone else encountered/fixed this? Going by the beta patch notes, I don't think it'll make a difference, but I'll give it a go anyway. Otherwise, the ability to interact on things by clicking them is borked for me, which is sorta important in a Dragon Age game! :(

Update: It fixes itself when I play in a window, rather than full-screen. I despise having to play this in a window, but at least I can play it this way. Please patch this up, BioWare!

I have the same issue. Doesn't matter on my resolution but once full screen is clicked it messes up.

I have the same issue, putting the cursor in the top left corner, I can keep using right click and it scatters southeast bit by bit its absolutely ridiculous. Playing in windowed mode fixes it, but then makes my entire interface disappear. This happens in both dx9 and dx11. DX11 the menu buttons dont work, so DX11 equals more problems! Just please give me a directx that works..

Since this bug annoys me so much and since our descriptions are somewhat hard to visualise without having experienced it, I recorded a video so everyone knows exactly what we're experiencing. You can see it here:

If this happens to help bring about a solution faster, it's all the better. Also, it's worth noting that I didn't have any trouble with this in the demo, so whatever is causing this probably occurred with the changes made between the demo build and the final gold master.

Good idea on the video. I was having the exact same issue but as of recent I was able to fix it. With the game already installed I installed it again on top of the original installation. For what ever reason this corrected the issue here. One other thing I noticed when the mouse was messing up the opening logo was not centered when you opened the exe or shortcut. Now that it is working fine the logo is now centered when the game opens up. Hope this helps out.

We're aware of the issue and looking in to it. I know for sure certain screen resolutions are being read improperly from the INI currently which would explain this issue in most cases. Please post your desktop and game resolution to help us further resolve this.

Hi, thanks for the reply. My desktop resolution is 1680x1050 and I'm trying to play it in 1680x1050 as well. I've tried lots of different in-game and desktop resolutions combinations, but nothing changes. The only thing that makes an impact is playing it in a window.

I should also mention that it doesn't occur if I play the game in DirectX 11, even at full-screen. However, I experience a different problem where the cursor's location on-screen isn't aligned with the objects on-screen. I'd have to click a distance south-easterly from the item I'd like to click on, which makes the conversation wheel inaccessible since it's so close to the bottom of the screen. This actually happens in a few DirectX 10/11 games for me, and I think it's actually a fault with the design of my graphics card, but if you guys are going to make changes to how screen resolutions are being read, it may fix that as well.

For reference, my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4850.

I have exactly this same issue as described with Directx11 with the cursor location not working unless you move it toward the bottom-right area of the object.  My resolution is 1920x1200 on both the desktop and in-game.  Thank you for replying to this thread Bioware.  I'm glad its an issue known so hopefully the fix can be included in the first steam patch.

Also when using Directx11 in windowed mode the entire interface disappears.  So while it fixes the cursor issue it does not let me see the interface, nor does right click work (it did not work on the unlockable items chest at home but it worked to intiate dialogue with Mother)

So in summary to make this clear:

DX9 1920x1200  =  Right click cursor jumping in full screen, in windowed mode the cursor isn't responsive.  Also the interface disappears.

DX11 1920x1200 =  Main menu the cursor cannot highlight selections, same with in-game (cursor not responsive at all), the cursor only highlights these things if you move it toward the bottom-right.  Windowed mode = Same as with DX9.

Anyone have a work-around so I can play somewhat without hindrance?  I'm not getting any CTD's.

Has anyone else been plagued with this? I've tried reinstalling, playing with resolutions, nothing seems to work. I use a fresh windows 7 install 64bit with a nvidia 9800 gx2 latest drivers (then tried beta.) I'm at a loss of what else to try to emulate the above posters solution. Bioware help :(

***FIXABLE SOLUTION***
Krzzyx figured it out. You need to enable Windows Basic theme.
