You only get ambushed by slavers, if you have Fenris in your party, and travel to somewhere outside the city. So after doing that, you have to deliberately go back to the city, to remove fenris from the party before going on HIS companion quest. Not locking him for that specific quest is a glitch, yes. But it's a glitch that takes a dedication nothing short of pure intend, to actually find. To suffer from this glitch, you need to be actively trying to break it, so yes, you can pretty much sayy it's the OP's fault.

Impling that I was actively trying to come across a bug is ridiculous.  After the Fenris ambush I didn't feel like doing the quest right away, so I did some other things and then later I happened to travel to the cave without Fenris.  How criminal and utterly ignorant!

Give me a break.

Instead of receiving thanks for warning people about this glitch, I am instead met with a wave of mockery and contempt for accidentally coming across a major bug in a video game.  Why do you people give a rat's ass what the circumstances were surrounding it?  It's a major bug and it's 100% Bioware's fault that the bug is there, not my fault.  No ifs, ands or buts about it.  I don't see how anyone can dispute this.

Three words:  BUG.  FIX REQUIRED.

End of story.

Why are you classifying people who discover bugs as idiots my friend?  We don't need to justify why we discover bugs.  A game developer's goal is to receive bug feedback from players and fix those bugs, and a bug this large shouldn't even exist in a $60 apparent AAA title.

And yes, I'm aware that Bioware is probably already working on a fix.  So... this thread is no longer needed. :)

I didn't mean to imply that we are idiots. But I do believe, both privately and professionally, that if you want to deliver a decent and usable product, you have to assume that it will be used by people who don't know their arse from their elbow. If you assume a monkey will be using it, you'll cover most potholes.
I guess I should be offended my coworkes always want me to test their software...

But we can both agree that this bug and a whole bunch of others shouldn't be in a "finished" product, no matter the price. Too bad it's a trend I'm seeing in a lot of games, I'm guessing it's because of deadlines. Maybe it's because it can be fixed with a patch afterward anyway.
Whatever it is, I'm just happy I usually do a second playthrough anyway. This way I can mend my evil bug-seeking ways. Posted Image

Like others here I got the slaver event while on another quest. After completing the first quest I ended up going into the den without Fenris, and even if I wanted to add him you can't leave the holding caves to do so. It is pretty easy to do. You should be forced to add Fenris before entering the slaver den, plain and simple.
