When I heard Anders was going to be in DA2 I immediately decided to hate him and keep him out of my party. I mean, this was the guy that only spouted comic relief throughout the majority of Awakening. He was at least better than Oghren but that's like saying 2 cents is better than 1. But when I played Dragon Age 2, I couldn't believe that I was actually considering what this guy was saying. I came off as a relatable character unlike the way he was in Awakening. And I'm glad he played an actual role in the story. Of course, I still can't forgive him blowing up the Chantry but I'm surprised I let him live afterwards even if I sided with the Templars at that point. Dragon Age 2 is a testament to how far BioWare has improved in terms of storytelling.
Thank you BioWare, for letting me be able to take Anders seriously...

I thought he was a fairly complex character. He made a dangerous deal with Justice because he wanted to end the plight of the mages, and he was struggling with the Spirit ever since. You saw a lot of good and bad with the mages and the templars, and it was interesting to see how no group wore a black hat or a white hat. Mages were dangerous, and so were the templars. In the end, I sided with the mages and kept him around because I valued his friendship.

I agree. I thought he would just be a comic relief character, but it turns out, that was Isabela, and Anders turned out the be the "most complex character in the game."
