in Origins, all you did to become a grey warden was drink darkspawn blood right?

You should be happy that Hawke came back from that trip with both arms.

We all know by now that Carver and Bethany may die from the taint of the Darkspawns. But there is one thing that I don't get. Why aren't Hawke, Varric and his other companions affected the plague if they aren't Grey Wardens? I'm pretty sure that with all the blood of the darkspawns that splashed on them that they would've contracted the plague by now. But, nope... Plothole or something else? You decide...
Because being exposed to the corruption is no guarantee you'll get the taint... just like being exposed to someone with the flu is no guarantee you'll contact it yourself. This is the same as in Origins-- most of your party weren't Grey Wardens there, either, and yet none of them managed to get sick.
Convenient? Sure-- but there's a big different between something that's convenient for the plot and a "plot hole". People evidently like using that phrase without actually understanding what it means, like "cliche" or "cliffhanger".

Please, don't troll on this thread.
It is a plot event. How is that trolling. Bethany and Carver are not available after Chapter I, probably because they are not in every playthrough so Bioware is saving up ressources by taking them away early and giving them back late. If you don't take them into the deep roads, they go to the circle/templars, if you take them into the deep roads they die or become grey wardens. You could as well ask why none of the Warden's non-warden companions got the darkspawn corruption.

Well in Origins there were all of three or four Grey Wardens(You, Alistair, Loghain, and Riordan), rest of the allies, a total of six people, all fight darkspawn on a regular basis, and not one became tainted.
Its possible Bethany and Carver lack a certain constitution that can keep them from being tainted so easily.

So I take it that the plague isn't extremly contagious eh? Thank you for answering. I always thought they were protected from the taint because the Warden was around them and producing some unnatural energy that protected them from the virus or something like that. Others also roleplayed that Morrigan made potions to avoid the taint.

To me it felt like the sacred ashes: you´re in front of something legendary and not really well known by dwarfs except for legends. The problem is that I did not even get those legendes nor a sense of "something is wrong here because...".
Don´t get me wrong, I did not expect a clear and definitive answer, but at least a potential answer or a set of them would have been nice.
