So I played through the ending twice with my Mage. Once, siding with the Mages, and once siding with the Templars. Why are the both the same ending with only a slight difference in the order of events?

Mages - Kill Orsino, go through Templar Hall, Kill Meredith
Templars - Go through Templar Hall, Kill Orsino, Kill Meredith.

Both options ended with the narative that the Mages become all powerful thanks to me killing the Templars. Did I make a mistake somewhere else or is that really the ending no matter what choices you make throughout the game?

Also does your love interest not matter in the end? I chose Merrill but the ending narative states that Isabela was the only companion to stay with me. Did anyone have another love interest but get the narative that Isabela stayed with you?

i think they're the same ending to lead up to dragon age III (or the DLC)

I was ok with that, but it does take away from replay value.

Did you flirt with Isabella first? or more often?

I got Merrill for mine, Just don't flirt with anyone, other then person you want romanced.
Plan ahead.

That more or less happens througout the entire game.

As for the Mages-Templars, my thought was (and I've said before) that Hawke's purpose wasn't to lead a side, it was to start a war between the two sides.

oh that's a glitch, If you flirt with isabella at all, but then choose someone else, it will stick with Isabella.

Isabela is glitched. I gave her to the Arishok and Varric still mentioned that she stayed with Hawke... it was very  weird, considering how at the end of Act 2, he said that we never heard from her again.

So the mages take over no matter who you side with? I read somewhere on this forum that there were 13 endings... maybe that person was lying. If this is true... what's the point of picking sides?

It makes sense to me, I mean really any choice you make Hawke sort of makes all this tension between the Templars and Mages explode.

it doesnt matter it was a great story and i cant wait to see how it all ties in together but mine doesnt make sense at the end when they say they never heard from hawke again just like the warden...my warden died....but then awakenings didnt have option to make a new character and import data from dao....if it did i missed out on that so i brought back a dead warden. however it says that all the towers revolt or whatever but what happens if you went through the right of annulment in dao? and what if you killed leliana in dao?

Orsino and Meredith were both totally nuts and needed to be put down. I think that the main factors of the plot are:

Arishok lives/dies
Anders lives/dies
Templars/Mages win the battle for Kirkwall

I think that DA3 will quite possibly take place in Tevinter.

@ryacual... Leliana is in DA2 regardless of whether or not you killed her in DA:O. No word on that from the devs, however, they have said there is a glitch regarding the Architect. The Warden let him live regardless, but that's not supposed to happen. They mentioned something about investigating that bug...
