I just killed Anders because what he did was colosally prickish, despite me supporting the mages. The problem was that he was my healer...So I was wondering if anyone had any tips on surviving without a healer during the last part of the game, or just in general.

I am a mage specialising in elemental, and I thought a good setup would be Varric, Aveline (Who is my tank and supported me. I doubt I could of survived without a healer AND a tank), and Merril. But I honestly don't know.

P.S I only have 9 health potions left....

I actually did this on a normal playthrough. I had Anders alive, I just couldn't stand him though. There's one particularly tough fight before the end that can be a bit dicey, but its not impossible on normal. With the long cooldown on Heal, Anders really doesn't do much to mitigate damage in those fights, you're best off just micromanaging your party to avoid the attacks altogether. With 9 health pots you should make it just fine.

What difficulty are you on?
On Nightmare i had about 30 Restoration Potions and 5 Healthpotions at the beginning of the last Quest and stocked up all that the dwarf guy offered at his last shop.

But i didn't bother with dodging damage much, so if you're careful and on a lower difficulty, you may last with your 9 potions.

If that doesn't work, i'd load an earlier save and respec your mage with 2 points into healing. You should be able to afford those 2 points.

I'm on normal.
You know if I'm going to go back I might as well keep the guy alive...I don't know if everyone will stay loyal >.>

I also had him with the ability to revive and that 'aid allies' spell that heals the whole team. Made the high dragon fight a bit easier with its damn AOE.

Icing on the cake on normal. They make life easier but its far from impossible without them.
