It instantly heals the whole group and replenishes mana/stamina.

I mean come on... the mechanics of combat are so aweful in DA2, on any difficulty, what's the point?

There should just be a skip button or auto resolve on combat.  The combat is so rediculous, I wouldn't be surprised that instead of summoning a Mabari war hound, you could summon Super Mario and have him jump on an enemy head and have the character burst into a pile of gold coins.

BioWare... you usually do such a great job on games... you should be twice as ashamed.

here's hoping they don't screw up Mass Effect 3.

If you want to do that, why don't you just do "runscript killallhostiles" instead? its much closer to an autoresolve than healing your party all the time, and would save you from all of the gameplay that you seem to dislike

Why don't you just uninstall the game if thats your mindset? This should not be in the gameplay and strategy forum. It should be in the general discussion where all the complaining is.

I do that in the lengthy night time in Kirkwall battles where you fight 3/4 waves of parachuting heacy armoured enemies. And in some of the Wounded Coast battles.
The rest are entertaining enough that it isnt required.

@Jackson.

I dont mean to be rude but a little investigation on your part (a google search "how do I turn on the console in DA2?") would have given you the answer to that.

Create a new DA2 shortcut on your desktop pointing to the DragonAge2.exe in the Dragon Age II\\bin_ship folder and then add on the shortcut line -enabledeveloperconsole.

So you would have something like this...

Target: "C:\\Games\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Dragon Age II\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

Obviously it would point to where your DA 2 is installed.

Once in game press the tilde key.

Or, if you're the adventurous type, edit your launcher XML file, as detailed on the Wiki (on the DA2 console page I believe, though the process is the same as in DA:O).

I think of healplayer as a safety belt for AI screws. Say I have two characters at dangerously low health in the middle of a long, difficult boss fight, and two mages, and they both blow their heal on the same party member, or one of them just started casting Tempest and is locked into an animation that will take longer than the survivability of the second wounded party member. Is this my fault? Possibly; I could potentially set up my tactics better. But it still seems a little silly to replay twenty minutes of wrestling with a wyvern just so I can tell myself I won the fight "legitimately" when I did, in fact, have two available heals. At the same time, though, I'm not interested in skipping the fight entirely; killallhostiles is for when a fight is genuinely boring or you're trying to do testing/dialog replay.

healplayer also a good testing tool if what you're trying to test involves actually fighting, of course.
