Knocback on mages bug?

Whenever even the weakest opponent gets to one of my mages and hits them there comes a thundering sound and the mage is thrown several meters and onto the ground, while the mage is getting back up the mob closes the distance and again hits with a thundering sound and throws the mage several meters and to the ground. The mob rinces and repeats untill the mage is dead with the mage unabe to use any abillity to save himself or even move away.
Is this a special abillity with a cooldown bug, an imbalance not forseen by the developers or something else? My frustration level is, to say the least, a bit high concerning this

What is happening to you is that your mages are taking so much damage its actually knocks them down. You just need to keep the enemies from attacking them.

Best thing to do is keep your mage as far away as possible or just keep moving. Also there is "Unshakable" which gives +100 Fortitude located in Force tree and Rock Armor to stop it from happening.

Can't even get a spell off to stun or get away and it usually happens at the end of the 2nd or start of the third wave of mobs but can also happen at first in a fight if you missfire your taunt. And if you're slammed into a wall then you're dead for sure. The assasins who break the taunt when they go "poof" are especially a problem.
I have no problem with paying for overlooking something or making a mistake but loosing a character for the duration of a fight based on one oversight seems imbalanced to say the least.

Still seems like an imbalance to me. Fair enough I get thrown and my spell or whatever I was doing gets interrupted, but when it renders your character helpless and powerless it goes too far imop.

There are definite workarounds to this problem for almost every class and character, to make it much more bearable when or if you get knocked down.
Though, I will admit one thing of an annoyance. I play my rogue on hard, very early in the game, a large elite spawns (Rage Demon) one of the first big baddies in the beginning of the game... and before I can react, he comes over to me and hits me, knocking me back and down.. before I =even= stand up, he's atop me again, swings again, my character instantly stands, knocked back and down again, and it continues until I'm dead. This early in the game it's very difficult to have enough stuns, taunts, whatever to keep him off you long enough to three to five shot your squishy characters.

there is also the knockback immunity ring. it is a life saver against those wasp spiders that do the chain knockbacks.
