Ok I stated this above. The only way to get the Epic Achievement is to import an Origins save. Until the patch comes out next week those of you who don't have DA:O or DA Awakenings cannot unlock the achievement.

This is incorrect, I unlocked it after my second playthrough without importing a DA:O save.  I dont know what is stopping it for other people, but it cant be just the DA:O save, since it didnt prevent it for me.

Did you just get it?  Because there was a patch in the wee hours last night and I'm wondering if they fixed this problem.  Can anyone else confirm?  I'm not going to do another playthrough until I know that this is fixed, though if this just unlocked for you, I suspect it has been.

Nope, I am on my 5th playthrough now and got it after my second playthrough a few weeks ago.

And you didn't import a save?  I have yet to hear of anyone actually getting this without importing...

Nope, i did not import a DA:O save, i only recently started playing origins on 360, only beat it on PC back when it first came out.
Dont know if it makes a difference, but here are some of the choices i made during my first 2 playthroughs:

(!!Spoilers!!)

First Playthrough:

Default Male Hawke
Warrior
Hero of Ferelden - Pre-Built History
Played on Normal
- Sided with the mages whenever i could.
- Romanced Isabela and Merril (merril moved in)
- Bethany joined the Circle.
- Group killed the Arashok.
- Gave Feynriel to the demon to get the extra talent point.
- Spared Bartrand.
(Did not have Sebastian DLC, did not get that until my third playthrough)

Second Playthrough:

Default Female Hawke
Mage
The Martyr - Pre-built history
Played on Normal
- Sided with the Templars mostly, (not enough for achievement though)
- Romanced Isabela.
- Carver joined the Templars.
- Solo Killed the Arashok.
- Gave Feynriel to the demon to get the extra talent point.
- Killed Bartrand.
- Anders wouldnt join me when i sided with the templars at the end, I killed him later when he fought me.
(Did not have Sebastian DLC, did not get that until my third playthrough)

Thanks for the detailed review. I'm going to take my chances and try it, even though I hear that it's still broken for most.

Very interesting! The common variable is no "Exiled Prince" DLC. I've played through 4 times now with the DLC (have DA2 Signature Edition) and have NOT recieved the "Epic" achievement. I wonder, if I delete the DLC and playthrough again, will the cheevo register? Any idea, Luke/Bioware?

I had VERY similar runs to cgambleh, and also do not have the DLC installed. I still didn't get the achievement. It seems to be a random chance with people with 2 playthroughs,

Funny, the Epic Achievement unlocked for me on my first playthrough using my DA:O import data.

Yes...that's what it should do, and that's what the achievement said it does.  What is happening is that people who are NOT importing a save and are playing it through twice are NOT getting the achievement as they should.

My apologies. I completely misread an earlier post.

Has patch 1.01 fixed this? I mean with no import, just 2 playthroughs.

I don't think it did. I hope bioware looks into this. I beat the game twice already and on my 3rd playthrough.

This will be fixed in the next patch. We've identified the issue with it and basically it comes down to
some weird mathemagical error with PlaythroughID #s. It's technically possible for you to get it without importing right now but it's somewhat unlikely at present.

The good news is that once it's fixed, you should be able to just load a save right before the end fight and do that again (possibly the post-campaign save would work)

To give you an understanding of your odds of getting this to work right now:

The Playthrough ID generation creates a random number between 1 and 4 billion. If your ID number is > 214 million (and change) it wont count currently. So, thats ~21.4% chance per playthrough.

^That explains why it still doesn't work for me... I've finished 3 times and still no achievement... :(

Luke, thanks for the update. Interesting problem. I'm in the middle of my 6th play through and Epic is the last achievement I need for 100% (50/50). I'll just shelve the game until next patch.
