Unfortunately, I don't think this will spawn a good honest discussion, but it does have relevance to the question of the game's reception.

Well I'm pretty sure that's more than balanced out by the scores and scores of 0/10 reviews. Oh, but those zeros are so very principled!

Ouch, writing that drivel and not declaring you work for Bioware, how low will they stoop.

Man. People are lacking for things to think about and preoccupy themselves with.

Seriously, who cares?

I don't know if you did statistics at school but judging by the comments in this thread and in the comments on the story itself, far more people than people that think like you.

Would you like me to make a graph for you ?

Yes. Graph please. Please find the numbers of all the gamers who care, and all the gamers who don't. I'll expect it by the end of the day.

Chop chop.

I'm not surprised. It's not like it is any better paying people off but at least they can hide that better.

Never buy a game from one review only - and never pre-order games as I did this time.

Video game companies LIVE by metacritic, funding and development almost solely base themselves around this...who cares? WE DO, the company is trying to play damage control by padding their scores so that they can save face, it's a rubbish tactic and should be punished.

They are abusing the same mechanic that the industry uses to judge a game's value, its essentially stealing.

This means absolutly nothing (to me) IF it's true. Unprofessional? Sure, IF that's the case.
I don't care if the Swedish king himself (yea I'm swede) wrote a couple of lines bashing or praising this game. What matters is my own personal opinion. I might like it and others don't and vice versa.
Reviews MAY give you a hint sometimes.... But really it's all about personal, individual taste in the end!
Well well... I will keep an eye on this thread for entertainment purpose.
Whatever you guys do DON'T ask the devs about "illuminati" though. Cause THAT might trigger som evil!

So its a blog entry by someone who never used reddit before (according to his own words) to criticize people who may never have written a review before DA2.

I feel there's some irony hidden in this.

Yeah, I like this story. One Bioware guy makes a metacritic review (only for DA2...). I highly doubt that he was told by the company to write that review. Still, it is pretty telling about how much the industry views metacritic as a high water mark. (and why they took user reviews and separated them from actual reviews a few years back)

Really, I don't find it as bad as all the babies writing the 0/10 and 1/10 reviews there. On the basic scale (the one that game reviewers use, not a true 1/10 scale) a 5 is flawed almost to the point of being unplayable. a 7 is average, 8 is above average, and a 9 is a must play. How the hell does anything that isn't Superman 64 deserve a 1?

Oh wait, I am trying to rationalize trolls again.

First, you're amking a whole bunch of assumptions about what happened here.  Second, pad there scores?  Seriously, this is one dude.

It's the interenet.  Who cares if emplyess of a company favorably rate their own product?  That's what it's all about, baby.

I don't know what meta critic is but I assume it is some kind of site that allows many people to make a critique of a game or book or such?

Without reading the obviously over the top pro DA2 thing that people are talking about what is to distinguish that from any of a possible ton of over the top negative posts or blogs?

This is depressing. Is this what my beloved rpg genre has sunken to? Writing reviews on your own game? Boo is rolling over in his shoebox.

He's not criticizing the review... he's pointing out a bioware employee reviewed the game with a perfect score without stating they work for bioware... it's a little shady.

If you believe everything anyone has blogged on the interweb, then yes. You should be depressed.
