I would condemn both. The people who are probably creating multiple accounts to 0/10 it are just as bad as an employee who doesn't do full disclosure when doing a user review.
Shill review of DA2 on metacritic.

It's hardly a crime unlike a few others are making it out to be.
My personal understanding is that the practice is a legally grey area, with various cases in various countries varying in their determination.
An internet and local (to Bioware) example is this.

This does not degrade or affect the rest of your comment, but I wished to offer an explanation as to why some may consider it an illegal act.
It's a real shame that so many here seem to just ignore all this or brush it off as if it is nothing. Or even worse, defend it. What is wrong with you people? How can you not see this as anything other than immoral?

I would advocate that while both practices demonstrate a lack of reason, one comes from those without a professional conflict and one does. One is a response from a fan, and one is a response from someone posing as a fan.Deadmac wrote...

If a paid employee of a competing company was to pose as a fan and debunk the game while genuine fans without a conflict or agenda liked it, would that be tolerable?

not realy people who are making accounts just to give 0/10 are ****** from whom u can expect no better than to simply waste time with such things. employees of the company however, should be expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner befitting there position
EDIT: dang post above beat me to it

Its not okay for the Barbie company to sell you a defected doll or advertise it as not defected.
But its completely okay for Bioware to advertise its game better than what it received?
Hmmm,....
...Except a company selling/advertising a defective product is different from a product that you may or may not enjoy // have a differing opinion on. It's up to an individual to decide whether or not they will like to buy a game. Nevertheless, what the employee did is still pretty bad of him.

Exactly! I've seen this posted before in this thread by you and maybe others. I don't see how people can't see a difference. This is a conflict of interest. Like a judge being involved in a case involving a member of thier own family. I mean, do I really have to explain this?

There is a difference when a company covers up someone else's opinions.

Cover-up? Since when did we arrive at censorship? There are still plenty (read: thousands) of other user reviews from various sites to read up on. I fail to see a cover up of anybody else's opinion apart from the simple removal of 0/10 "THIS GAME IS HORRIBLE, COMBAT IS STUPID AND BIOWARE SUCKS!!!1!!!1!!" from one-day accounts.

Not once has Bioware said, "we see your concerns, we'll get back to you"
No, they took the route to insult those and their differing opinions. Their directors goes unto add insult to injury by stating how people just don't like change. They decided to hide in a nuke chamber and play loud msuic and here no one.

84, 83, and 81 respectively
the the user review averages are:
4.1, 3.7, and 4.1
...there's something wrong here...wait, did bioware ship a different game to the critics? that would have been sneaky...

Here's the review the Bioware employee posted:
"The immersion and combat of this game are unmatched! A truly moving and fun
epic. Anything negative you'll see about this game is an overreaction of personal preference. For what it is, it is flawlessly executed and endlessly entertaining."
'Insult' is a bit of an exaggeration. This is just one employee we're talking about. It's not like the entire company was backing up what he said, in fact, I bet they didn't even know he reviewed that game. It's not some 'conspiracy'.

Like his 10 score is going to matter amidst the bombardment of bogus, spammed 0 score reviews. This is a bit concerning yes, but the sheer amount of **** responses from DA2 naysayers borderlines on childish. I can't exactly fault this employee for wanting to do something while his company's game is being burned at the stake for nothing.
I accept the validity of this viewpoint. I cannot contest that single review by a professional employee will have a clear impact on the game review score in light of a massive majority of low scores.
However, I do not believe that this is the major problem with such an action. The concept of a professional employee impacting upon what is supposed to be a neutral reviewing system damages and corrupts its validity as a neutral reviewing system.
Such can perhaps be said of those who review a game with an unfair score, or even more likely, review a game without having played it. However, they have not assumed the responsibility of developing a game, and are likely a mature adult who understood that their actions bring into conflict our trust and our respect for a game he or she simply wished to promote.

I hardly think that one 10/10 (now deleted) review will matter considering all the '0' reviews out there.

LOL. So how do we get a critic copy? I did wonder how the heck the PC Gamer score got on the box -- I thought PC Gamer reviewed "the same game consumers buy." (Last time I trust them).
