But in the end...

It still silences out and even dismisses the negative reviews.

How does it manage to do that when its lost in a sea of hundreds of negative user reviews exactly? Because the only reason I ever would have found his review to read it is because the negative people obsess over it so.

Even though I have my likes and dislikes about this game, BioWare has given us so many other games to cherish. So, some of us have issues with "Dragon Age II", but that doesn't take away all the good stuff that we have enjoyed.

Its okay to skip this one if you don't like. Go onto something else, let BioWare figure things out, and come back to see if something else sparks your interest.

Its only a game.

While this is a valid viewpoint, I do not believe, or at least fail to recognise the link (which would be my fault) it has in relation to the topic in question.

I always assume most people put more faith in the company than someone from the community.

"Let BioWare figure things out".

Honestly, that's what is worrisome. There is an interesting clip up on You Tube entitled "Dragon Age 2 Gameplay Review" where someone from the company is explaining the reasoning behind some of the design changes. Specifically, he talks about adjusting tactical elements based on the data mining feedback. This data is silent (secondary market research vs. primary market research) and as such it seems very dangerous to me to use as support for such a drastic change. I can understand their desire to expand their market audience beyond the RPG base, but alienating a base is never the way to go.

Like his 10 score is going to matter amidst the bombardment of bogus, spammed 0 score reviews. This is a bit concerning yes, but the sheer amount of **** responses from DA2 naysayers borderlines on childish. I can't exactly fault this employee for wanting to do something while his company's game is being burned at the stake for nothing.

It's not the score that is at issue here, it is the fact that as a BW employee is posting a review of DA2 is a conflict of interest when he does not disclose this in the first place. This makes his rating and comments quite suspect since they cannot be taken at face value due to that deception on his part to save his company's name or whatever his reasoning was. It's no different than a TV salesman at BestBuy who also works for Toshiba or Sony and tries selling those as 'better' than the other TV's.

He may indeed enjoy the game and thoroughly believe what he wrote, but that is not the point, his deception is...

I'm highly amused at the **** tossing against Bioware on their own website.

DA:2 wasn't a worldbeater, but there were two points during it that made me react emotionally in a way that virtually never happens even in the best games. I can forgive it the minor bugs and the repetitive environments for a game that makes me put it down for a full day because I'm upset about what just happened in the game and that I couldn't make it better even though I'm the all conquering Champion of Kirkwall. Origins never made me feel that way, and I say that as someone who loved that game too.

Its pathetic, but expect nothing less tbh. No not only Bioware, but as an industry insider, this happens a lot more than most of you think.

I expect in actually most people understand that this may be a regular practice, but to see a potential exposure of such behaviour brings it to a head.

Hahahaha! This is awesome in that "I enjoy mayhem and mischief" sort of way.

They should have just called the game Dragon Age: Hawke's Money Grab.

A title like that would have fit what I heard about the story and lessened the expectations of people who were hoping for an epic sequel to Origins.

Then, after whoever was behind this game got their creative jollies or quick cash or whatever that person was after, Bioware could have proceeded to make a true sequel to the game that their die-hards love.

Oh Bioware, one of the laws of nature is that you "dance with the one that brought you."

If you dance with the one that brought you instead of dumping her for that hot airhead of a blond bombshell, then you don't have to make up lies about how you got to sleep with the bombshell after the dance.

The old, not-so-hot chick that you slept with for years would have been happy to have you warm her tent again, but no...you had to go for the mass audience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That metaphor was awesome, wasn't it?

I think that it is sad that someone would actually try to frame Mr. Woo. I highly doubt that he wrote that review. I think it is more likely an attempt by angry trolls to get stanley fired or punished for something he may not have done.

To avoid confusion, I do not believe Stanley Woo has been accused of anything in relation to this topic.

It's to be expected, following a 'presumed' real review from a real bioware employee.

Yes, I think the concurrent StanleyWoosMom post firmly put that in the tongue and cheek spoof category.

I agree, but true fans don't want to see the old BioWare gone.  I seriously hope DA2 is not the future for BioWare, we are telling BioWare to get back to basics and  make a great game like most of their games.  And not make average games (which is what DA2 is) with idiotic marketing hype and cheesy pre-order deals.

As soon as I saw how they duped their true fans with the "Signature Edition" and forced them to preorder months ahead to be these "bonuses" that no one else got.  I knew something was up.

What's sad is that as soon as this really started, they started slipping out screens of ME 2 DLCs to come. Bread and Circuses anyone?

The backlash seems to have multiple components. There is anger at the abandonment of careful character tweaking that RPG players love, frustration at the DLC upsell, and hatred of the SecuROM.

Throw in unethical rating rigging and I would actually be concerned, if I was them, of it becomming a perfect storm of backlash.

wow, 16 pages of nerds getting their panties in a bunch over a USER REVIEW on METACRITIC of all places. How the hell is some BioWare douche posting a 10/10 any different from some basement nerd creating multiple accounts to post 0/10?

LET US ALL DECIDE THE WORTH OF A GAME BASED ON THE ALL-MIGHTY USER REVIEWS OF SOME WEBSITE!

Goddamm some people need to chill the fsk out. I thought DA2 was kinda crap compared to DA:O or the Mass Effect games. But I just go ****** to some Jessica Alba pics like any normal person rather than fill the internets with some righteous DA2-burning crusade. Jeez.
