Bethany not dead?

I thought an Ogre trampled Bethany to death very early in the opening part of the game when Hawl's family were escaping from Dark Spawn. reading the posts I appears that Bethany was alive ...I think I missed something.

She only gets kill by the ogre if you play as a mage.

If you choose warrior/rogue, then Bethany lives and Carver dies. If mage then she dies and Carver lives.

Okay y'all! Thanks for the info. It was probably covered in another post somewhere but I have yet to figure out how to do a search in the forums.
