No you don't get it at all. This is not a personal taste issue, it's a
common sense issue. If your sole interest is story, then why not get it
where it's best? Books, even movies, or even Adventure games which offer
a very good interactive gaming equivalent. To question people wanting
more than just a story in an RPG, when you have these FAR better
alternatives, is just stupid, selfish, and short sighted.

You
can scream idiot and insist I'm a child all you want, it won't make your
point of view and less moronic. Now excuse me while I go criticise Ford
for not focusing entirely on storage compartments in their cars. It's
getting pretty cramped in here, what with my PC, bed, refrigerator, and a
family of 5.

Its not a common sense issue... i play
bioware games for their stories...because their always good i didnt know
picking a source of personal entertainment was selfish..... maybe your
the selfish one looking for certain mechanics to cader to your
preferences....lol

Wow, you don't understand either, I don't think I could have made it any clearer. Maybe if you actually read some books you would have a better chance of understanding such a simple point of view, and maybe you would learn how
to communicate in basic English too.

But you know, I guess... now that Bioware have shamelessly aimed squarely at the retarded console gamer audience, people like are going to be the new residents of this forum now. Enjoy! Don't be alarmed if the furniture still feels warm, that was just the recently departed audience who supported the company for sixteen years, and got unceremoniously ejected to make way for you guys.

thank god i was gettin tired of people like you anyways

This whole exchange is f*cking funny, I find it very cozy here.

So were Bioware it seems! Not surprising though. It is certainly preferable to have an easily amused audience with very low standards. Bioware must be very excited about their future! No longer having to live with the pressure of having to come up with puzzles and riddles and difficult well tuned battles and so on. They can now just fill the game with, blood, boobz, and plenty of monstorz to splat, and the game will be a huge success!

Are you going to refute any arguments? Or continue to throw out vague insults? I'm sorry you give me the impression of someone who doesn't understand any other position other than his own. Also uses his school-yard intellect to argue sub-par positions on issues you probrably don't understand. I seriously doubt you have the capability to read any long book let alone comperhend one. So therefore your ability to understand a decent story is indeed miniscule at very best.

Neither can I, because thankfully Bioware wised up and allowed me to skip it with a liberal application of Omni-Gel.

The storyline in DA:2 is really... Bad. Boring. Certainly not up to Bioware standards. How can you go from being the hero of the world by defending a blight against the entire planet, to playing an over-the-top British guy who wanders aimlessly around a city for 40+ hours an improvement?

Why doesn't a game developer just enable mouse and keyboard control on a console? I would think that nowdays, with more and more hd (lcd, etc) tvs becoming common in households (especially so with gamers), they could use the same UI setup as pc, and just turn the graphics down to what the console can handle.

With the dev time freed up from dealing with making the game work with a controller / camera with analogs (ugh...),  spend more time on making sure the game controls as well as it would on a pc. I'd take a hit, graphics-wise, if I could play it the same way as when I boot up my pc, but not have to deal with hardware settings, drivers, etc.

I can't imagine that this is impossible to do.

Bioware wins : Getting customer loyalty back for having the balls to implement a "more complex" (in reality, the normal way the game's meant to be played...) UI control setup. No more "developing with the console in mind" to ruin what could have been an awesome installment for a VERY popular IP.

Gamers win : Being able to play games the way they are intended by a developer, whether it's with a mouse/kb, or with a 360 controller. The only thing you have to concede is that the pc graphics may be better. Personally, I'd be fine with that.

At least we wouldn't be fed a line of bull about having to "streamline" a game. It would either be Good, or Bad.

tl;dr : BioWare should just allow keyboard and mouse control in future cross-platform games. Graphics on the console would have to be turned down, but the tradeoff would be being able to play the game as it was intended. Less time spent on making sure it works with a controller means more time to actually put a story into a game, along with an actually unique game-world (seriously, the same dungeons/maps over and over?). Everybody wins.

I've tried twice to sit down and play this game... I just cant give a s****. I've never been this bored this quickly. Then I got really bored and started thinking another class might be more fun.

Speaking of PC games with plot AND puzzles, Who owns the rights to the Quest for Glory series?

If you only care about stories, buy a good book. I could understand that argument about old style Adventure games, but RPG's can be far more than just a story. Look at something like Magic the Gathering. That shows how interesting and complex combat can be in a fantasy setting. A good RPG can have a similar kind of depth to combat, while still being exciting, good to look at, AND compelling as a story. The sky is the limit really with an RPG, so it's sad when a game like this sets its sights so incredibly low.

I kind of agree with you at certain point. Dragon Age 2 is not perfect but I think that overall is a very good game. I'm aware of its flaws (you can see them in almost every post in this forum), but for me they didn't spoil my fun when playing the game. That said, I agree, there's a lot of space for improvement and I'm sure that Bioware is taking into consideration all the negative feedback they're receiving. But, as I said, for me Dragon Age 2 is a very good game and not a disappointment at all.

Probably Sierra (I lost the track of who owned Sierra years ago), though considering how bad QfG V was is better to leave that series RIP.

A proof of how a good game looks like without having a huge budget to develop it <3 But still, Bioware is my favourite RPG developer together with Bethesda. By the way, adventure games, which you suggested me to play, are my 2nd favourite genre :D

Anyway, I should go back playing and check how DA2 ends. Then I'll be able to give a proper opinion, but so far, as I stated in all my previous posts, DA2 is on par with other Bioware games storywise, just that its story is built on a much smaller scale than affecting the entire world across the game.

You aren't very good at this are you? To mention something such as that to try and prove your point is rather self defeating. Any arguement you thought you had is now destroyed by your inability to communicate
