Right now, Bioware is reading the DA2 reviews and going "oh, sh*t, we done goofed." Soon after, they will scurry back to ME3 and quickly fix up the parts that DA2 was criticized for.

Don't act like they can't. They have eight months, at least.

But in reality  they will look at the reviews and think "Oh Sh*t". Then they will realize that most reviewers bought the game and come to the conclusion that the sales speak otherwise.

That´s the problem with sales figures: They only show you how many people spent money on the game, not how many of those actually enjoyed it and how many threw it away.

If you loved ME2 and despised ME1 then no.

If you loved/liked both games then no.

If you loved ME1 and despised ME2 then a probable yes.

The story and consequences carry a lot more weight this time around, EA/Bioware can not ignore this without some serious fan rage.

However, reviews help many people decide whether or not they will purchase a game.  Bad reviews = less people will spend money on it.

I'm pretty much expecting one of the greatest games of all time. So, no. It won't suck.

They'd have to undo a lot of damage already done by ME2. Not gonna happen. They'll possibly reconsider cutting out levels in favor the DLCs though.

Damage in YOUR OPINION. In my mind there is nothing to undo.

different teams, ME3's dev time is only a few months short of what it took to reboot the franchise with ME2 while DA2 was 4 years short of what it took to build DAO

plus the DLC for ME2 was actually a step up from the main game, the DLC for DAO was kinda disappointing imo and leading from that uncertainty into DA2 meant yeah, there was room for them to screw up by trying to reboot everything in a short space of time

if Arrival DLC blows people away we'll all forget about this age of dragons thing and look forward to november

/koombaya... happy thoughts happy thoughts...

Unlikely. I still haven't forgotten how Obsidian botched the end of KOTOR 2.

IN MY OPINION, there is something ironic in this sentence.

Do you like CoD, by the way?

I sure do.

ME1 and 2 was great. I belive BioWare are wise enough to listen to consumer feedback. Therefore I think ME3 will probably be good.

You know the really sad thing.

If it's great, the haters will stay on this forum and insist the rest of us are idiots.

And if it s***s, they'll still stay here and tell the rest of us that they're geniuses. They'll even buy it just so they can play it and describe its s***iness in excruciating detail.

The game's great. It's the lack of dialogue options on this forum that gets tiresome.

So this.

Oh and don't forget, there will be the inevitable comparisons to CoD and other TPS and FPS, brought forward as evidence of dumbing down - with ME3 being accused of being even more dumbed down than ME2. Oh yes and we can't escape the monotonous (despite valid points) video analysis of plot (or lack of in peoples eyes) where in, if you have an opposing viewpoint you will be called a moron, or a console gamer. OP if you're that worried that the game might be rubbish, wait for a bit, or rent it out rather than buy it. Personally I'll be staying away from the main forums in the lead up to ME3.

Surely you don't dislike ME2 for just that one part of the end sequence. Posted Image

I don't think it will suck. If they really rush it like it appears DA2 was then it might not be a 90% game but fall in the 60-70 range. If they make it shorter with less content and recycle endlessly then yeah this seems where it would be. People rating DA2 a 0, 1, or 2/10 are being very silly. There are some great elements there even if you don't like the whole product. You are lumping it with truly horrific games with next to no budget and rife grammatical errors. Hopefully they will spend the man hours to make it at least as good as ME2 IMO. That'll be enough for me.

What happens everytime fans hear a sequel is coming out. Unbased rioting and hating for the sake of the latter. ah the internet, gotta love it.

wait wait wait...the hammerhead is OUR fault...well the fans who complained about the mako, you guys said the MAKO sucked so Bioware delivered EXACTLY what you wanted something that was TOTALLY the opposite of the mako and YOU got it, but you didnt like it, so please dont blame the Mako and the Probing thing? it was fixed its not AWESOME but it sure as hell doesnt make the game suck Probing just makes THAT feature suck... but honestly has very little impact on how good the game is since most of the upgrades you need you get them fairly easy.... so yeah those points are not really that valid...

This panic is about the fun of having a panic, man!

Obviously, it was BioWare's intent from the very start with DA2!

It has been the same story since ME1. We asked for something, BW delivers and then they complain the new stuff is bad too. They complained that armors in M1 were generic, so they made unique ones for each character. Then everyone ****es that they need armor because it's unrealistic. Really, if I were in Casey's shoes, I would have forgotten about you the fans a long time ago.

No, not just for that. But I really don't care to go into the details yet again, it has all been said a million times before. There are many good summaries of ME2's problems floating around the web. If you really are genuinely interested, I'll find one. Otherwise I'm going to take a pass on just another "what's wrong with ME2" discussion. I'm as tired of talking about it as ME2 fans are tired of seeing it. <_<

Why don't you stop getting your panties in a bunch because even if it was bad you would buy it anyway. If I read another one of these GD threads I just might kill myself.

Honestly, the Dragon Age franchise was never as good as Mass Effect. I realize that's my opinion, but I found Dragon Age slow, its story somewhat convoluted at times, and in general not very satisfying. Mass Effect? A totally different story. The first one was good. The second one blew me away.

I did get my hopes up for DA 2, and was ultimately let down, but I don't worry one bit about the third ME game.

Be thankful that the Mass Effect forums have never stooped THAT low as those foolks on the DA2 forums have...what a mess. DA2 was fun...Pc'ers are just stuck in the past and on those illusions of grandeur and all. Plus, let's face it...ever since the statement about the combat change for DA2, people were lining up for the flame war. It was inevitable.

But Mass Effect 3? Everything has been leading up to a succesful conclusion. Even those that disliked 2 in the past HAVE to admit that after all this time, Mass 2 isn't AS bad as they previously believed. It's a quality game, whether you like the changes or not.

There is no such thing as a perfect or totaly finished product. So all we can realy hope for is that the new products based on old products have more successfull attempts of improvements than unsuccessfull ones.

The most important thing in market economy and capitalism is to give the costumer what they want so if a company, like BioWare for example, wants to survive they need to listen to all their costumers. But of course constructive critisism, especialy saying what we likes most and how we think it can be further improved, is much more valuable than whining just to get a exuse to call strangers that doesn't agree with you stupid and spread unimaginative negativism.
