Sadly, that is what goes on here most of the time. Im glad it really isn't like in the DA forums.

Unlikely. I still haven't forgotten how Obsidian botched the end of KOTOR 2.

well basically we've got cognitive dissonance or... nothing really

any other year everybody would be all "omg bioware is t3h awesome i love bioware it's like a religion to me" and we'd be singing praises from the rooftops at what a glorious year lied ahead with SWTOR and ME3 coming out, how more epic could 1 year be for bioware amiright? instead these forums feel like i'm wandering around the zone in stalker or the wastelands in fallout, all nostalgic for the days when TIM being part husk was the most important thing Bioware could ever possibly screw up

Like hell I do. In fact, the more I think about and play ME2 the more I'm dissatisfied with it. It's the exact opposite with ME1--I've completed that game like 15 times. ME2? Twice, and a bunch of failed starts that I got bored/sick of by my third recruitment mission.

If you go into it like a big dumb action movie expecting nothing more than shiny laser guns and explosions, sure it's awesome. But that's not what attracts me to science fiction.

And having just replayed ME1, I'm amazed at how many bad things there were in there that I just ignored earlier because it was mostly pretty good.

It's all subjective, and people know what they like. There's no reason to expect marshalleck to come around to liking ME2 any more than there's a reason to think I'll suddenly decide ME1 was the better game. A few people will change their minds. The vast majority won't

That´s the problem with sales figures: They only show you how many people spent money on the game, not how many of those actually enjoyed it and how many threw it away.

Yep. That's why they invented spybots.

I absolutely love ME1. I had played, and replayed that game around twenty times before ME2 was released. About a month ago I had tried replaying it again, in an attempt to make a "perfect" maleshep playthrough.

I just stopped around virmire. I couldn't take it anymore. For all the "bad" things me2 brought along... It did enough things "right" to make it overall better than ME1. I just wish we could fuse the plot and atmosphere of ME1, with the gameplay and characterization of ME2, with shepherd character development of Shadowbroker DLC. That would be nice.

If you are at Virmire its the last 2 mission , its so simple to finish .
Infact Virmire play style of rush and rumble as first person shooter is the most reminding of ME2 action. lot of crawling and headshots .
The mule combat is dead easy , just watch radar zoom in and boom ...

But anyway I do agree and hope they do remake the whole trilogy in ME3 engine .
(for the playstation it isn´t hard) but for the rest of the system it might be .
Or simply rerelease ME 1 and 2 updated ...

Be thankful that the Mass Effect forums have never stooped THAT low as those foolks on the DA2 forums have...what a mess. DA2 was fun...Pc'ers are just stuck in the past and on those illusions of grandeur and all. Plus, let's face it...ever since the statement about the combat change for DA2, people were lining up for the flame war. It was inevitable.

It wasn't inevitable. All BioWare had to do was to listen to the fans (I hear they do it a lot). Those fans who by now have succeded in creating bad publicity for them. Trolls or not, it's going to be bad for business to have pissed them off. Because the sales of DA2 are going to be affected, the sales for the DA2 DLC are going to be affected, and the preordering for ME3 is going to be affected. At least. The trick here is that "the trolls" actually seem to have a lot of valid points and coherent arguments even though it's all laced with rage, profanity and whatnot.

While the "Yay! Fluent combat!" audience can really say nothing else but "Yay! Fluent combat!" Because the "fluent combat" isn't even really chanllenging once you crack the basic principle of it: "press A button and something Awesome happens"... The enemies AI is non-existent and the level design is uninventive and repetitive - even if it's it's reskinned. Therefore, if you are a little bit into more than just watching flickering pixels on your screen for hours at hand, that combat gets old within the first couple of hours into the game and becomes a nuisance rather than entertainment.

No, ME2 sucked. Even after I had modded everything I could, it still sucked. Last time I tried to play it, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I still feel the urge to complete my Shepard's story in ME3 though... which doesn't mean I'm going to spend $60 on it.

This is like asking the question; "Are the Cubs gonna win a World Series over the NEXT 100 years?"

And the answer is a stern; "Maybe, but most likely not."

Aside from being monumentally wrong,  you know what the funniest thing is about the people who insult PC gamers is?

Guess who makes your video games?

They don't magic themselves onto your consoles.  Someone has to write them,  on a PC,  and being computer geeks it just goes to follow that they're also...PC gamers!

You've got yourself one heck'uva paradox there.

Assert:  PCGamers are stuck in the past
-Console developers are computer scientists
-Console developers use PC's routinely
-Console developers frequently attest to being PCGamers
Assert Console developers are stuck in the past
Contradiction
Assert OP doesn't know what he's talking about.

What will affect ME3 is the spoilers nothing else can make the game sucks if you knew the ending and how will the story ends.

For the story to be spoiled, there must be one. Therefore, the story must get out of the way of the good game ME3 is bound to be. It must be sacrificed... hmm, an "ultimate sacrifice"... I think I've recently heard it somewhere.

I've played ME2 8 times and I still love it. Me1 only 3 times. I've never played any other game this many times. I love a lot of it but I do hope that some complexity is put back in. DA2 is way to simplified and I don't want that to happen with ME3.

Quick answer: Yes.

It will suck because for someone, somewhere it will suck. This is inevitable. Some people will hate ME3, regardless of what direction is taken. You can't please all the people all of the time.

In streamlining the RPG elements, an attempt was made to broaden the audience as much as possible (it sucked for less people). In doing this, some of the people who enjoyed ME1 were annoyed. If ME3 is like ME2 then it will suck for those guys. If they swing back the other way and make levelling more complex, or bring back loot, then some of the new audience will think it sucks.

I was disappointed with ME2 and I always will be, but a lot of people liked it. I expect a smiliar response to ME3.

Of course, the inverse of this is also true...

So, who are going to blame when ME3 are on the shelves?
The PC users? The console users? Those who don't have enough of the necesary refined and complicated taste to realy enjoy a RPG action game like you do? EA? BioWare? Forum trolls? Old players? New players? Fans of some character you don't like?
If we realy are desperate to get a false sense of self esteem by mocking others while hiding behind internet anonymity I am sure we can make some arguments that at least sounds convincing to ourselves.
