Halo? CoD? what are these?
No honestly nothing comes close to Quake 3 Arena (QuakeLive is ok as well just that it doesn't support mods as of yet so you don't get rocket arena).

Quake is the true test of skill and reflexes.
No other modern game comes close. Its skill in purest form.
QuakeLive is free so try it people.

I did enjoy Quake 3 arena as far as any fps pvp game is concerned. Like i said before i just liked the Halo plot line and the characters in it. It is my humble opinion that it was one of the most innovative First person shooters. Most of them were set in present times using conventional weapons and then halo came along. You are a Spartan, part man, part machine, you are carrying a valuable AI in your head who chats away at you all the time. It was also one of the first FPS games to introduce vehicles that you could control, (note i said one of the first not THE first) and it also had enemy AI that wasnt just baddies running towards you firing their weapon, they actually reacted to your presence in different ways.
Anyway everyone likes different things, so there is obviously going to be difference of opinion about such subjects.
needless to say i immediately realised my mistake once i had bought the 360, when i went to sign up for xbox live and realised that what i was doing, in essence, was paying microsoft, for the privelege of connecting a console i had just payed a lot of money for, to my internet connection which i was already paying for. And that any content i wanted to add to my games, i would also have to again pay for. Which is something that i had always taken for granted as freebies on pc games, excluding World of warcraft. Blizzard will charge you money for sneezing so thats one game i wont miss from the PC.

Well, I wouldn't say user-made content is -completely- incompatible with consoles. Bioware themselves have mentioned that they're doing whatever is possible to make it work. Working out the details with Microsoft and everything. I think I'll try and find that source..

What? Charge for free mods? Do creators get anything?
That whole thing is very unlikely..

Very competative game but has difficulty tiers

Sure the pc users have access to user created mods etc... but in all seriousness, most of which are complete crap. There will be plenty of "quality" dlc for consoles in the future.
I've played both the pc and the 360 and the differences i see are fairly insignificant.

Exactly what I've been saying all along. If a user-created mod gets tons of heat and a great response from the community Bioware might take said mod, give it Bioware polish, develop it for consoles, then offer it to you guys for Bioware Points. YAY!Nialos wrote...

So if a true user-created mod ever comes to the consoles it will take a very long time and will cost you money.

Saying you are boned to own the 360 version is way inaccurate. It seems to me PC gamers are jumping at the chance, and this is it, to trash a console version of a title, and their arguments against the console versions are extremely weak. The gameplay in the console version is equal to that of the pc's. The UI is different, but I can do everything using the radial wheel that a pc user can do using a taskbar, and in fact my screen isn't cluttered with that horizontal thing streaked across the bottom of my screen and the radial wheel has a limitless number of slots because it stacks. In fact I like it a lot better than the taskbar. Sure PC users have isometric view, but at least the console users have something I'd rather have and thats stability. Game runs flawlessly and as smooth as a baby's arse whereas PC users face bugs her or there causing crashing, lockups, stuttering, etc.....not to mention the intrinsic lack of optimization because of the sheer heterogeneity of computer hardware in peoples boxes. Graphics are just a tad less than the pc version and sure the textures aren't there but neither are the textures in the pc versions. The game was initially developed before mass effect 1 and the graphics on all fronts are incredibly outdated.

They also say that its much easier on consoles to compensate for lack of tactical possibilities..
I didnt have a single problem with the game.. Running smoothly on 1600x1200 everything highest

That is very innacurate. I don't see a difference in tactical possibilities. What does that mean? On the 360 I micromanage my entire party for each battle. I easily switch between party members, target specific mobs, etc... I think those reviewers just didn't take the time to get a feel for the control scheme. It's no different in terms of "tactical responsibilities"
I'm sure the game does run smoothly, but I will go out on a limb her and say that in say 95% of all console users their game is running flawlessly whereas the percentage of PC user s whose game is running flawlessly is a lot less.
I'm not bashing the pc version, but just think it's pretty unfair to bash the console versions with pretty weak arguments the most of which is the graphics argument. This game is probably one of the worst games I've seen on any platform in the last 10 years and that fact doesn't go away whether i'm seeing it on a 360 or Core i7 920 build running a HD 5870.

I dont know how console game plays.. can you pause and then order someone to move somewhere, order someone to cast some spell, order someone to attack than unpause and watch it happen..
And than view of the battle is an issue on consoles probably.
Anyways that is much easier to do on pc that I micromanage every single action of my party members.

That's silly. My gaming PC is hooked up to my 42" LCD TV via HDMI. Consoles lost that advantage years ago.
Actually, my PC is simultaneously hooked up to my little 20" widescreen LCD monitor so that I can play Dragon Age when someone else wants to watch TV. I can switch displays with just a button press! Graphics cards really are fantastic these days.
Except that the game is optimized for a keyboard and mouse on the PC, sorry sitting in front of a big TV with a keyboard and mouse kind of defeats the purpose. Pc games on a big TV are ....blah unless they optimized for controllers.
Hence why I'm just going to pick up a 360 version to go with my PC version eventually

3 words... overhead tactical view. Not available on consoles. If you ever played Baldur's Gate 1 or 2, you'd understand.

Based on the levels I've seen (everything up to Dorf town) you won't miss overhead view. The levels are really easy to navigate.

Nah... that's Microsoft's and Sony's job. Believe me, I own an Xbox 360, and I definitely feel like I got boned whenever I buy a game for it. Which is why I tend to stick to PC gaming.

LOL...dude/dudete, I have my Quad core PC connected to my 46 inch Flat screen TV via VGA....So i say still boned...I had the same issue, I did my research and realized that though it might cost more to play DA on PC (in terms of upgrading my machine), it would pay off in mods...and it is...

in an effort to avoid this thread turning rapidly into a flame session or something. We all know that Microsoft are con artists, and we all know that the only way most things ever happen on 360 is if we pay through the nose to get it. Especially ince microsoft recently patched to ban all 3rd party memory. Take my word for it i will be replacing the 360 with a PS3 as soon as i can.
I totally understand that i will never see user mods on the 360, unless Bioware deem some mods to be particularly good as some other game dev's have done in the past.
There are however some things that shouldnt even be an issue on 360, let alone have us hoping that possibly maybe if we are lucky enough to get a patch for one day. I will give an example.
in the fade, went through a mouse hole. kill the two baddies in that room. Saved as i hadnt done it for a while. opened a door to face three more baddies, got killed. Reloaded, because there were enemies in combat range in the next room, i was automatically in combat mode when i reloaded, problem is that the door is closed, and you cant interract with the environment in combat mode so im stuck.
i reset the console thinking that might fix the problem, loaded, still in combat mode,
that is the sort of thing that shouldnt be happening in a Game after release date, particularly on a console.
actually if you pull the left trigger you can select noncombat items such as doors, lyrium crystal thingies and dead dudes
