Someone must have created a digital 8-ball.

be a dual wielder. both varric and sebastian are archers, and varric is the most fun to have around. and its pointless to have two archers in one party

Sorry you didn't get it. There's a toy called a Magic 8-ball that you're supposed to ask questions or advice and get a random answer through a window.
You're asking about a matter of personal opinion and preference so any random answer will suffice..
My advice is why choose? play as one and then replay as another.
And I'm playing with two archer and don't see how is that pointless. A rogue is a rogue and provides the same utility.

Why is it pointless?

In any case I love playing an archer, but the main weakness is that you only really get stamina back using Bloodlust. Stamina regen for rogues is quite obviously tuned for DW with their higher attack rate.

i would say its pointless to have two rogues in the group simply as they are very single target oriented (even archers with their rain on arrows) and can sometimes be overwhelmed by the waves of mobs in this game

Oh sure. Don't see how this is only true for archers though.

its not, i would say the same for any rogue. which is a problem for me as i 'd love to play a rogue but i cant imagine not having Varric in my party >.<

While they may be oriented for single combat rogues can easily take out mobs as an archer, I won solo against the ambush in act 2 if you don't pay the dwarf who loaned you back. Also boss fights are a lot easier I find.

Depends who your going to have in your party------- dual wielder: should be a shadow or assassin spec, with anders(for ranged and heals) varric or sebastion (doesn't matter tho varric Is more story connected.) and fenris(as a tank, I preferably don't like the sword and shield tanks in this game)-------for archer: assassin spec( doesn't rly matter what spec tho) a healer(anders or make Bethany/ merril into one) again go with fenris and make him a warmonger(make him use taunt EFFECTivEly, or a simple defender spec also plays its part well. And we'll anyone else as you 3rd(if you pick aveline make fenris a scrapper)------ALSO NOTE: later in the game archery becomes useless I u dont play ur cards rite.

Have fun!!!!!:wizard:

Doesn't matter, just get 2 mages with upgraded haste to faceroll upto and including nightmare. Choose whichever is more fun.

I have done a playthrough using Me(Archer), Varric, and Sebastian, and it was total beast, didnt need a 4th member for anything, although I had Anders specced for healing just incase.

Alot depends on the skills you setup and how you set the tactics, DA:2 is so much EASIER than DA:O/A in that the AI is a lot smarter in the tactics settings.

I call Bologne, Merill cannot make an effective healer. you lose Bethany after act 1 and dont get her back until act 3 if you if you make her a warden, or leave her behind, so this in effect only leaves Anders as the only Viable healer if your not a mage. Varric is more story connected only because he is the "Narrator" and has more inter party banter than the others, but has about equal quest / storyline as any other party member.  Fenris or Aveline are both great tanks, but Aveline tends to be a bit better at mob control, with the shield adding the armor and defense, over Fenris raw Kill potential, If Fenris doesnt 1 shot the mobs he taunts he can "go down" faster than Isabel on $ drink night..
