I don't know. To me it seems far too clumsy and clunky to be plausible. They will probably get the same treatment that Revan, the Exile, the Hero of Nerverwinter etc. got. They are gone so as to be conveniently removed from the political landscape so that the writers don't have to deal with off screen non-canonical characters as world leaders, and can instead replace them with canonical characters who are infinitely easier to manage.

How would that work? Hawke is a more closely defined voiced protagonist, and the Warden is a vaguely defined unvoiced protagonist. Both these characters are extremely accomplished, and they might not necessarily share any goals. Should they both be the protagonist in DA3, like some kind of buddy adventure? Should they both start at level one? Should the Warden get a brand new voice actor? Should the Warden be railroaded away from whatever decisions the player made for him to play peacemaker in the Chantry war?

Note that I never said we get to play them

But Im thinking its definitly just coincidence.. Seekers have a seemingly annoying habbit of jumping to conclusions and making assumptions.. Varric had to pull Cassandra up on her assumptions a few times in fact.
If the Warden didn't go through the Eluvian then he and a large chunk of the wardens probably are thousands of miles below the ground exploring the deep roads after hearing of the discovery of that Lyrium Artifact.
The First Warden not wanting to inform anyone that he sent probably a massive number of wardens in his order to get down that far because A) He could loose political influence in the anderfels (Maybe hes a greedy bastard mmk?)
C) People will want to go down as well thinking the deep roads will be fairly safe with so many wardens down there or D) Well.. they are just secretive people, and they like it.. cause its cool and gets em the ladies lol.
Whereas Hawkes dissapearence is simply him going into hiding to avoid the wrath of the mages / templars most likely

Don't mean to put words in your mouth, I just honestly don't see how it would work. I guess bioware could voice them as NPCs... but that would be disastrous. Bioware would either have to take "ownership" of these characters we have played, and give them motivations and opinions that are a complete shot in the dark and probably will result in a completely different personality than the one we imagined, or they would have to make way for a thousand different characters based on your import choices, which still wouldn't change that they are taking a non-canonical character that exists in the players mind and trying to give it canonical form and substance. It would be so, so messy.
They are getting the Revan treatment. Mark my words!

If you have the Warden's keep and let the old mage Warden study the warden blood ( I allowed only moral ways however ) he says something about improvement in Warden's blood. And don't forget Alistair's mother got rid of the taint somehow... so there can be chance for our Warden. Lets face it , which Warden deserves it more than ours

Normally around 30 years. Unless ofcourse if your name is Avernuss. That guy was apparently pretty old.

Or my favourite, due to both their connections with the spirit known as the maker, now known as the abomination Flemeth, they´re both dragged in by her or against her in her scheme to stir up the continent of Thedas to whatever the goal is she has.
I however really doubt we´ll see the warden again (aside from a default body with a helmet/mask without a voice at most) and probably not even Hawke after DA2 is concluded, atleast not as PC.

Shep died and got put back together though. If both the Warden and Hawke died and came back and had to relearn all their skillz, that would be a tad much.
