That's what I've read. I believe someone got a response from David Gaider on the issue, and he confirmed that she dies no matter what.

Yes. If you go with gamlen too look for her you get there too late, and if you go with DuPuis you are still too late, but turns out DuPuis was lying to you and was just interested in learning the insane mages secrets (you may have to fight him too, not sure, on my playthrough varric shot him during the cutscene lol)

Would be nice if she could live, makes the DuPuis decision seem a little pointless, if you arrest or kill him you simply only have the gamlen option in the all that remains quest, it doesn't really effect anything.

Yeah, that was me. David sent me a PM with the confirmation that Leandra dies no matter what you do.

Her death scene was hilarious, I kid you not I was laughing at the whole thing. I reloaded it a few times to see the different lines Hawke delivered and all of them seemed detached from the moment, it seems the VA had trouble taking the whole "stitched up mother giving final words" thing seriously.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but I find that response to be unsettling.

I'm kind of glad you couldn't save her. When the camera panned to show the stiches around the neck my mouth instantly dropped open. It was one of the best parts of the game imo (And this is comming from someone who considers DA2 better then DA:O)

There was an amazing lack of outrage and anger in that whole section. I so wanted my character to be pissed off and raging at the killer.   I wanted the option to tear him limb from limb.

I was looking for that option myself, when I came to it. Hawk's response all seemd a triffle too mild for one coming upon the guy who turned you mom into a patchwork doll.

When my PC saw my mom became a patchwork doll, I myself was furious but I don't get the dialogue option to fully express (release) that anger..kinda disappointed for such a great quest and possible role-playing turning point (like it can be a reason for the PC to switch from supporting mages to supporting the templars)

Same. The only quest that actually surprised me.

Don't come into the spoiler forum if you don't want spoilers. Duh.

Its likely the most emotional scene in the game or one of them, but I agree that Hawke's responses seem a bit... neutered. It appears that his field of possible reactions at that point don't express what the player themselves are feeling.

Actually people shouldn't do this if for no other reason than it can pop up in the last reply summary while browsing the forums as a whole.

This was probably one of my favourite moments of the whole game and I felt the whole range of emotions my Hawke must have been feeling then starting with throwing every spell I had at the guy who'd done that to my mother until he was dead

It certainly got more of an emotional response from me than any moment in origins did

While that is true, they don't need to come into the spoiler forums and mention it, because it is IN the spoilers forum.

Definitely one of the most powerful moments for me too. I totally unloaded everything on that guy right after the cutscene. Too bad he didn't put up much of a fight.

Definitely one of the most powerful moments in the game. At Least she went out in a memorable way.

I found it very powerful until she started talking. Once she opened her mouth I felt so much disappointment in whoever wrote that. I know they wanted to give closure to your character, but there is no closure for a stitched up mother, and her talking in her normal voice after being stitched together just... breaks the mood.

Same here. I really thought that was the silliest thing in the entire game.  The killer should have just stabbed her in front of you.
