And this isnt just sometimes, but this happens in most of the battles; only "mini battles" without waves wont show this procedure of suckness

Call of Duty Black Ops was the best selling game of all time.

It makes perfect sense for EA to simply cut and paste every lazy/crappy feature from the COD series.

Dragon Age 3 will have NO DEDICATED servers, you will have to download DLC from peer to peer :)

Dragon Age 3 will be in 600p MAX instead of 720p since COD is gimped at 600p, and sells a boatload, why not?

Dragon Age 3 - Secret Warriors will be set in 2015 and the plot will involve LULZ guns and SHOOOTING!

I dislike it. Yet, if this would have been any other game, I would have simply accepted it. It's just weird that they do it right in the first game, and then mess it up in the second game.

MW2 had no Dedicated Servers, but I think BO got them back, because of angry gamers.
So: DA3 will be again like DA:O
:?:huh:is that a good sign=]

LAME,
just try it on nightmare.
Wave after wave after wave after...
sometimes the later waves bring new elite enemies too. you can not plan ahead or play tactical. you just have to outlast the reeinforcements.
Every battle is the same, I mean I grow tired of it and I'm still in the 1st act.

THAT is not what I would call proper game design.

I love the ambushes and I think they add a great element to the combat, but the appear out of nowhere stuff is a bit wonky to put it bluntly for regular enemies that aren't shades/demons that do that anyways.

They went sorta over the top with it though, like I've seen other people posting, in almost every fight you can now expect there to be at least two waves of enemies. So in a sense it is somewhat less tactical at the start of pretty much every battle, for example you see a small group of enemies and you think you'll just nuke them quick before they react - you kill them, then all of a sudden 10 enemies appear out of the air in a circle around your mage. Fun times. The only way to respond to a situation like that fast enough on nightmare is constant pausing and constant freakin' vigilance, otherwise your mage is more than likely SOL.

Aye, the concept in DA:O was more linear, but it worked anyhow.

When I remember the battles in BG1+2 there wasnt such gimmicky, but still the fights were very tactical

If you must  troll, try at least harder. Modern Warfare 2 had no dedicated servers, and because of all the deserved nerdrage they gave the pc gamers dedicated servers back with Black Ops.

Not trolling, speaking truths!  What about XBOX and PS3 versions of BOs?  I gave up on COD after MW.  I played CoD on the PS2, COD 3, COD MW.... respawning completely killed it for me.  I'd spend 15 minutes shooting a house full of ****s and then notice I had no way to get into the house, then another 15 would appear.  And I realized, respawn garbage willy.

You really need to have a good sense of humor when watching how Qunaris pop from the ground in front of your eyes. I sure laughed. And then I got pissed off.

Maybe they had these battle tunnels and were waiting for my mage there. Right!

Very annoying when you think you have a tough battle under control and BAM; your mage/archer in the back is surrounded and close to death. Takes away alot from planning and being tactical with placements.

I don't know about you guys but I don't plan on replaying the game until something is done about this business. Like someone pointed out already, every fight is the same is the same is the same.

Im not even sure if it would be helpful to implement a unqiue "Summon" animation for every kind of enemy.
Besides: because of the Dragon Age Lore (there is no possible Teleportation by Magic means) there isnt much someone could think of without implementing scripted movement of enemies which summon around the corner out of your camera sight...

Enemies did spawn out of nowhere in DA:O too though. Maybe not as often as in DA2, but it did happen. It happened in Kotor as well.

The reason they do enemies in waves is because Xbox 360 can't handle more then that.  It's just more consolization.

Spawning enemies out of nowhere during a battle is THE worst design decision. Even worse that removing the detachable camera on PC.

I seriously cannot fathom what the dev who thought this was a good idea was going through. If I see 5 guys when I'm sent to kill said group of guys then I want to fight 5 guys. If you want to make the fight harder, give 'em more health/damage or make there be more of them initially.

Spawning enemies in out of nowhere during the middle of a fight not only kills immersion by having them phase in out of nowhere (the worst one) or magically jump down off the roof/pop up through the floor (seriously what the hell?) but also absolutely ruins any sembalnce of planning you can do in the fight because you have NO idea how many people are going ot magically phase into existance for no reason during the course of the battle. it's also extremely lazy game design. A really terrible choice for combat in what they decided to make an extremely heavily combat focused game.

I don't even mind enemies jumping off the roof to initiate a fight. That at least makes sense and you can plan out the battle because you know how many there are. But during a battle after you've killed a fair few of the inital group? It doesn't even make SENSE. Come on Bioware you're better than this. I hope this sort of crap doesn't make it into ME3/DA3

Yes and they also removed any of the features that made dedicated servers good, allowed no control over the servers, removed all customisation, completely removed any semblance of teamplay in the game by making it nigh on impossible to play as a team and released a fundamentally broken game and still haven't fixed it for many. BO is worse than MW2.

This wasnt even in Mass Effect 2; i dont know how this idea got realized for a RPG with "strategic" battles?
I mean: they appear out of nowhere!

They are not summoned!

Couldn't you use a little more your fantasy? They come from roofs, from hidden places etc.

As for the strategic I repeat another time: LEARN HOW TO POSITION YOUR PARTY INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING. In a gameplay that has aggro abilities breaking the lines is necessary. This is tactic and strategic. What would not be strategic at all would, in fact, be a gameplay as DAO that had not breaking the lines of the party.

In BG, for example, breaking the lines always happened. In that case swarms where not necessary because DnD doesn't have aggro abilities.

So, we should imagine everyone in Kirkwal is a potential ninja.  No, I would rather the story make sense.

I broke party lines a lot in Origins.  There are other tactics one can use, sometimes to greater effect, than 'quick! everyone hide behind the guy in the massive armor!!!'  That's when you get hit with AoEs, for example.  If there is an enemy with AoE attacks, or a lot of enemies lined up with ranged, you spread out, or break in to teams of two.

I can imagine what he was going through.  XD  the whole game had only a year of production and EA breathing down their necks.  It seems like actually designing the battles and dungions was the last minute work, ultimately focused on just giving the player something to use use their super awesome new fast paced combat full of unbelievable animations on.  I feel sorry for the Devs, the more I think of what they tried to do, how little time they had, and the end result.  I hope they fix it.  I'm waiting to see before I buy, what, if anything, Bioware will do to retcon this.
