1. There's an expansion or...
2. BioWare changed their minds during development and now the story ends at around 9:37 Dragon.

Yes this was exactly what I was thinking.wollert wrote...
Could be the interrogation takes place 3 years after endgame, could be the 10 years evolved from the phrase "over a decade", could be DLC or EP was considered when marketing the games scope.

I'd love to see some DLC that fills in the gaps more in the three year windows between the Acts.

But didn't Bioware say that the game was to span 10 years in the final story/product?
Yes, but we have to count the time IN the gaps, and the time we play also.
In other words, Act 2 doesn't begin the day after Act 1. I think it's 3 years later. Act 3 starts some period of time after Act 2.
So, get to Kirkwall, spend 1 year with smugglers.
Spend time during Act 1 . . . then 3 years pass.
Spend time during Act 2, then 3 years pass.
Then Act 3 time.
In other words, each Act also takes up time.

Not much tho. In Act 3 Merrill can be quoted in saying she has only lived in her house for six years. If the amount of time the acts themselves amounted to much she would say seven or eight years.
Yes, and Merril isn't there for the first year you spend with the Smugglers/Mercenaries. So it's been at least 7 years in game at that point. And if we assume Act 1 takes year, we may be talking 8 years of game time.
Problem is, we don't know how long each Act takes. If we did, we'd know if we're short years.

Surely this can be worked out with the exception of the final chapter as there is an Autosave at the end of each act that says "Year 4", "Year 7" etc

Is there? Not sure I noticed.
Then yes, it may be easier then we think.

This is correct. From the time Hawke arrives in Kirkwall to when Cassandra interrogates Varric is 10 years. After the battle with Merideth, there are three years of Hawke's life that hasn't been detailed.Templar_Avenger_1 wrote...
