Dunno if this is the right forum, but here goes...  More often than not problems can - or must - be solved through scripting. :-)

I have placed an enchanter staff on an enemy through a script. This is a boss enemy, and I hoped that the staff would scale according to the hero's level. However, it doesn't. It comes as "iron".
Is it not possible to scale items in custom mods? I know e.g. that Wynne's staff scales (or does it start off at "steel"?...).

Maybe there is a cleaner way to do it (without scripting), but you can change the boss' staff according to the hero's level. I have found a GetLevel() function, but it doesn't have a description... So, you'll have to check what it returns.

Oh, there is also a ScaleEquippedItems() functions that looks even more interesting.

Anyway, have you set the AREA_ID variable of your area? That will make your enemy creatures scale and I think that the same effect is applied to their equipment.

Uhmm.. Now you're talking stuff I'm not into - yet, at least. :)
My modding is limited to creating new items and adding them to the world through scripting. I have not tried changing existing areas or creating new ones.
Still, there must be some "automagic" at work here; I created a new item set and while the boots and gauntlets didn't scale to level, the armor and the helm did... Unfortunately I haven't got a clue how this actually happens.
Anyway, thanks for the tip about scaling equipped items... That may come in handy. :)
