The feeling that the entire game is just a framework for future DLC.

Few and repetitive maps. (Did all the level designers resign when the game was still in development?)
Few enemies type.
Shorter story than DAO.
Dull side quests.
Dull companions.

And as a side note... why all the female companions are so ugly?
Aveline looks like a cow.
The in game Isabella could be saved but not the concept arts / wallpaper version. First time a concept is uglier than the final model.
I don't even consider Merrill.

Anyway even Mass Effect 2 wasn't at the same level of Mass Effect 1 maybe is the Bioware modus operandi, to ruin the sequels.
Even if they had no problem with all the D&D saga from Baldur's Gate to NWN 2.

I really enjoyed the game as a whole, enough to forgive all but 3 things:
1) The game felt too short at the "end": I really enjoyed myself until I realized hey... its gonna end soon. Someone mentioned 5 acts and that sort of what I was expecting, 3 acts felt way too fast. It ultimately felt like an expansion rather than a full game.
2) A complete lack of an ending: yeah I understand leaving it open for a sequel but there was 0 closure. This pact by having a certain magical choice at the end not matter really bugged me.
3) It really feels like there are not many skills to choose from at all, for any class. I rolled a mage and I really felt like there were no appealing skills outside of crushing prison. I didnt want to be a healer or elementalist so for the most part I was S.O.L. Moverover the other classes seemed rather lackluster as well.

I had problems completing some of the quests such as Isabelas because of the glitch so it made me restart one of my saves all the way back which was not that big of a problem but it turned out to be.

1. Recycled maps. Breaks immersion in more ways than one.
2. The way the enemies spawn--if I wanted diablo, I would play diablo. Breaks immersion, makes tactical play more contrived.
3. Lack of tactical camera.

Pretty much in that order. Fix those 3 things and it would be a rock solid game...even if it was still missing some stuff from DA:O (though it also gained stuff too so it's a wash).

These are all true. They weren't my top peeves, and I can't agree that fixing them would fix the game, but yeah...

The world felt so small.

Not only because we are stuck in a boring city with no life.. But because of reused maps... Small/Senseless loot tables...little customization over all...A city that seems to only contain 40 or so citizens with the rest just teleporting ninjas trying to kill you(may be thats why there are so few in this city?)

All of this contributed the over all size of the world in my mind. There was no feeling of adventure..with a few exceptions. Heck, the second prince quest had a good feeling to it.. and a few others.. but too few :(

In the end I felt Orzammar in DA:O had more content and story to it than the whole DA2 world. Basically it felt like a bigger world.

Still I enjoyed DA2 somewhat.

I play these types of games because it's a nice escape from my ordinary day-to-day life, and because living in a city can be boring sometimes.

So when I play Dragon Age I don't want to run around Kirkwall for the entire game.

Act 1 gets my vote for biggest single issue with DA2, what a boring and pointless grind fest that whole section of the game is. I hated every minute of it.

Honourable mentions to the constantly spawning trash mobs of the same 3 bad guys, the uninspired and totally boring level design and the lack of a satisfying ending to this game.

The reuse of maps was a crime both games committed. But the way some of the waves do not animate when phasing into thin air is frustrating. Some of them are actually done really well. When I see guys coming from down the road or from the rooftops, that's awesome. But unaware archers fading into view and inheriting the spark of life within pimpslap range of my mages?

C'mon baby. Don't do me like that.

The entire combat experience, from the new system to its frequency everywhere. The endless stupid combat, waves and waves of it everywhere that mirrored the exact mechanism for each and every boss fight. The "invulnerable" bosses you couldn't attack during their "spawn waves of trash minions" phases because the interface wouldn't let you. Like the dragon, or the end boss in the Deep Roads. I honestly thought it was a bug when Hawke wouldn't actually lift her bow to attack. The strategic neutering of my favorite class in Origins, the DW rogue. I *loved* stunning and backstabbing, or positioning my stealthed rogue to do maximum damage to an ogre, and then running. Now it's an "ability," not an inherent feature of the build that you can take advantage of by using your wits.

What others have said, reusing the same 6 areas over and over plus the damn spawning of groups of enemies that always seemed to appear next to the party mage and kill them in seconds grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thank God!
In many reviews I've read, they have been saying the combat system is a vast improvement...
What!! I dislike it intensly, for many of the above reasons, true DAO was not perfect, shuffling was frustrating at times, the only redeeming feature is the ability to move whilst in combat more fluidly, which certainly would have made the stealth skill in DAO easier to use, it didn't have to be replaced by doing the entire move for you at the click of a button.

The new system replaces combat  with power rangers, yet it is still called tactical? No, ramping up the difficulty on nightmare and spaming waves does not make it tactical by forcing you to pause the overfrantic combat so you can work out what the hell is going on.

Recycled maps, main thing that killed it for me. Other than that, every other problem I had was microscopic in comparison. I guess exploding bodies for no reason during combat is also up there. But yeah, That's about it...mainly.

Lack of Changing locales. I like games where you go to vastly different places ex. Desert, Tropical, Urban cities, snowy/winter type zone... etc.

On that note, does Kirkwall have seasons? Or bad weather for that matter? for being so close to the sea i never once noticed it pour rain or have any fog...
You'd think the people there would be happier with all the great weather they get.
