Is it a good idea to make Leliana dual-wield?

Some questions: I'd like to give Leliana dual wield talents but I am not sure if this is a good idea:
1. Do I meet a dual wielding rogue any time soon? I just reached Redcliffe after having my first dr**m about the a****emon, so I'm still very early in the game.
2. Does it make sense to give a player more than one weapon style focus? In NWN it wasn't a good idea not to focus on one "career". It was best to focus on archery, dual wield or two-handed combat. How would you say does this compare to DA:O?
3. From my first impressions, archery looks rather "underpowered", as it was in NWN. Would you say this is true?
thanks in advance!

Shale and myself get the job done, with Morrigan healing and blasting away

In general though, you get few talents in the grand scheme of things so it pays to specialize.

Also, there is an absolutely KILLER dagger for sale in Orazamar. I think you guys know what I am talking about it.

Since I myself play a warrior-archer, I let Leliana focus on dual weapons with archery as a backup. It works out really well especially if you build a high rapport with her. Her cunning score will skyrocket and she'll do MAJOR damage if you give her the lethality talent.

can you tell me about your warrior-archer - I have a character that i am building that way and was wondering how it works
thanks

That was a strong enough incentive for me to keep her as an bard/archer. I did give her Duelist too, surprisingly it mixes well.

I use her as ranged, got stealth and lockpicking up first tho which i will probably change next go. While she wont outDPS a dual wield rogue, shes always alot safer at ranged and has utilities like crit shot skill for 1 shotting frozen/petrified mobs, Arrow of slaying for 1 shotting mobs, sustained debuff shots if on, mass aoe stun arrow.
All in all very useful as archer and her bard skills are ok too. A single target paralyze being the best (2nd talent). Her 2nd spec i usually pick Dualist just for the stats.
You could choose ranger but to have a pet up is a sustained ability which costs alot and the stamina is IMO more useful on other abilities.

Sure.
I chose a warrior obviously.
-Focused ability points on Dexterity. Every level up I would put 2 points into dex, and 1 into strength. Sometimes in the early going I put all 3 into dex. As I got higher level I would drop a few points into willpower & constitution. Once dexterity got above 36, I started putting more points on strength.
-Max out the Archer tree as a first priority. Arrow of Slaying is frighteningly effective.
-When archery tree is done, do the row of the warrior tree that ends with "Death Blow".
-After that, it is your choice. However, since you are going to have a high Dex for the archery focus, it is natural to stat focusing on Dual Weapons after that. I was able to fill out the top two rows of the dual weapons brach by game's end.
-For my specilizations I chose Templar and Champion. I didn't take any of the templar abilities, however. I did max out Champion though. WarCry & Rage are quite useful.
-I wore light armor only. This kept my stamina costs down so I could use abilities more effectively. Plus, your dex will be so high that your defense score will help you avoid blows in the first place.
-Obviously use the Longbow. It works best with the high strength/dex combo.
I ended up with a pretty versatile character that could provide high damage archery support, but also get in with the melee when necessary. My other party members were Wynne/Morrigan, Allistair, and Leliana. Leliana helped on the range stuff at first, but eventually I made her focus on dual wield/melee. So Allistiar and her would wade in and fight while I did the early damage with Arrow of Slaying/Critical shot. Then I would join the melee if necessary.

1. Offer greater quantities of elemental arrows at shops and REDUCE their costs.
2. Allow you to poison arrows just as you would melee weapons.
Those 2 things alone would make archery a more powerful build. But as it is now, you can STILL do pretty good with Arrow of Slaying, Critical Shot, and Scattershot.
