There is a blind spot in the valley of High Dragon, it's nice to hide there while dragon is sending waves of drakes and splitting fire from height. But the bad part is when the waves are gone nothing's happening --- the dragon dawdle until someone goes out.
I suppose it could really last forever )
Maybe it'd been posted here somewhere but I couldn't find

If this is where I think it is, then no, it's a phase of the fight where you can't hit the dragon, and it throws out lots of dragonlings/dragons to fight you.

No, apparently it's not possible, you have to move closer to the center of the valley to have a clean range. I had a couple of hits at the end of dragonlings wave.

Just checked: dragon couldn't reach the party even with it's firebreath (not only with splits) if they are a bit closer to the left arch (from screenshot)

Honestly, if you equip your party with some fire resist or run a resistance aura with one of your mages, the fire spit is not a big deal.

the fire spit is nothing but annoyance, really.
but hey, this fight is even more epic than the final fight. THIS SHOULD BE THE FINAL FIGHT and that dragon should be FLEMETH!

Oh please not that again!  I fought Flemeth in the first one and barely won that fight.  She had killed all but 1 party member and I managed to beat her using the dwarf.

So you tossed a dwarf at Flemeth? :D

Except that when I got to this quest, Anders had zero rune slots and the only way I could keep him from dying was parking him here.  It's marked as [fun], but I would call it [essential.]  At least on Hard, not sure what this fight is like on Normal.

I can't seem to find this spot somehow. I'm standing where it seems to be, but I keep getting fireballed. Was it patched maybe? Or are there more precise directions?

Shhhhh... Bioware might read this thread and patch the sweetspot. Oh noooeees. lol. I didn't use it though, but it's an idea for future playthroughs when I want less hassle fighting the thing and just want to move foward in the game.

yeahh... I'm pretty sure most of the (better) players know of this spot already. not trying to disparage your topic but just thought I'd let you know.

The spot didn't work for me, luckily my bad azz 2 handed warrior with Bloom pretty much detonated that little dragon's world.

I just kept running the far edge line and never got hit.

Can you cast tempest on the dragon when it's up there?
