So is there much difference between the two of them for you. Their beliefs and how they act? What are their views and personalities?

For me:
Warden: HN, Loyalist to the chantry and maker... however sees the mage mistreatment as wrong, Friendly but also funny picking alot of the humorous lines.. If I had to compare him to anyone it would probably be Alistair.. Had a backstory where he was Knighted and a protector of the realm of Highever so he does not lie or break the Knights code.. Exept to demons. He goes out of his way to help others and put them before himself..  and standing up for what is right

Hawke: Cold, Calculating and Brutal. Putting himself before all others. His loyalty lies with the side that will benefit him most.. So he commonly trys to get more gold out of people and dispite being an apostate sided with the templars in the end since he wanted the viscounts throne and knew he had to go through them to get it.. he will pretty much kill anyone who gets in his way and does not believe in the chantry and the maker, he doesn't really care about the mistreatment of mages as he fails to see how standing up for them can benefit him personally, plus he felt it would be a recipe for disaster knowing an Exalted March was being considered anyway... Pretty much the opposite of my Warden lol. If I had to compare him to anyone.. i'd have to say Morrigan probably, with a touch of Bhelen in there as well. He didn't ever want to bo back to Ferelden and dispite losing his mother and brother here, considered kirkwall his new home

Anyway whats the personality and beliefs of your charecters? And what companion / npc would you compare them to?

I play every game with essentially the same personality the first time around: a god(s)-fearing "noble noble", like your Warden. Comparing to NPC's.... my Warden fit in very well with the "righteous party": Alistair, Leliana and Wynne. My Hawke worked well with Aveline, Sebastian and Fenris.

I've tried "evil" playthroughs, but can never last more than 5 minutes without getting sick of it.

I loved the humor options on the dialog wheel so my Hawke was a class clown with really sharp daggers.

I play the game as myself, always do, so they were ultimately the same character (unless I have multiple personality disorder!)

This. My first (canon) play-through is always based on my own personality so they're more-or-less the same.

Warden: Cousland Warrior who tries to do the right thing an falls for Morrigan

Champion: Sarcastic Mage who thinks he has an understanding and a solid grip on what is right and wrong until he see's what happens to his Mother and what Anders does.

The only real difference between my main Warden and my main Hawke is that one's a girl who hooked up with a girl, and the other's a girl who hooked up with a guy... who later screwed the world with a concoction made of drakestone and crystalized urine. To this day I'm *not* entirely sure which is kinkier.

They both have the same basic weaknesses, personality disposition, etc. My Warden had pointy ears, but that's neither here nor there.

My Warden was always out to do the right thing, whereas my Hawke was mostly a mercenary with morals right up until the end of Act 2. In terms of disposition though I played them similarly; a penchant for sarcasm and generally decent to people.

This. I've never done a playthrough with anyone but Alistair, Leliana, and Wynne. Ever. I just can't be mean! This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though. My Warden is an honorable Dalish lass, devoted to her clan. She starts out with a "Maker? PFFT" attitude but changes over time to become more respectful or even curious about the Chantry. But she always does the right thing, tries to help others when she can, and returned Ser Bryant's offer of a reward for clearing out the Lothering bandits even though she should've asked for more aid so she could have the Ancient Elven Boots. Gah! XD

My first Hawke was intended to be mean. I was saying "He's gonna be a grumpy bastard!" for months. And then I got into the game... and he turned into a sweetheart. Always trying to be helpful, cracking the occasional joke... and making the harsh/threatening comments in appropriate situations, such as when dealing with demons--or Meredith. He's no coward, but he'd rather not put his party in danger with unnecessary fights (except when it came to the qunari storming the keep; epic battle time!).

I don't have a problem with playing nice, noble characters. I find it more fun that way.

Warden: Elissa Cousland. What more needs to be said? :P

...

Oh never mind.

Anyways, yes. My warden was an extreme goody two-shoes -- almost Mary Sue level. She was always ridiculously nice to everyone, even when the circumstance didn't require it. I blame it on her noble upbringing. She was fiercely protective of the ones she loved. She had a real sense of Cousland honor, I think, and later, Theirin honor. (queue "God Save the Queen")

Hawke: Marian always chose the diplomatic option for dialogue, however, that doesn't mean she was necessarily nice to everyone, unlike my Elissa. She spoke her mind, and got into more fights than was probably good for her. She was a good girl, regardless. Unlike Cous-Cous up there on her pedestal, however, she definitely had rivalries with her companions. She had her morals, and would defend them if necessary.

Warden: a cynical hero, who never really wanted anything more than to be. as an elf in denerim he's seen the worst society has to offer and constantly works to free his fellow elves and fight social injustices. He has no strong feelings about the Maker one way or another, but recognizes the chantry as flawed in it's need to enforce laws on the populace though he recognizes the nescessity of organized religeon for many people. The warden accepted Morrigans offer before facing the archdemon, and though he truely loved Morrigan he regrets his decision and fears that some day the people will know longer know him as the hero of fereldan. Currently he presides in Denerim as Bann of the Alienage.

Hawke: A rouge and scoundral, but well meaning. Hawke's first and foremost duty has and always shall be to protect his family and friends. every misfortune that befell Hawkes family, from the deaths of carver and his mother to Bethany's discover  by the templars, He sees as his own personal failure to protect those he cares about. though inwardly bitter and saddened Hawke hides this with sarchasm and a fierce determination to do what he thinks right. Though Hawke often urges others to find middle ground when facing conflict and advocates peace, his own actions and manerisms often insult and provoke his enemies  into attacking regardless, making Hawke a poor choice for peaceful resolution. in adition to making a poor choice as a diplomat Hawke is often at ends with the law, as he will never allow the laws to overide his own personal morals. during his Time in Kirkwall Hawke met Merrill, and while he first stayed with her due to his promise to Keeper Marethari and his own fascination with the dalish, He soon found many similarities with merrill, Namely a willingness to do whatever it takes to aid those They care about and a dangerous curiosity.

I have two Wardens-- Cousland and Tabris --and RP that they were recruited together. Oh the angst and drama that created. XD I could go on and on about them, but I'll spare you that wall of text.

In a nutshell Malcolm Cousland is Chaotic Good and Nela Tabris is Chaotic Neutral. Both were very angry individuals and consumed with vengeance and hate, but Malcolm kept a more level head and was more willing to help people. Nela just told everyone to **** off while doing the right thing in the end anyway.

Emrys Hawke on the other hand, is a bit of a jackass. Becoming even more jaded as each of his member of his family dies. While he acts like a jerk, he genuinly cares for the people around him and is extremely protective. He generally avoids "illegal/shady" business, but isn't above doing them if the situation calls for it, and has a strong sense of "moral justice", but will go against the law if it conflicts with it.

He doesn't particularly care for the Chantry, being a mage and all, and will gladly tell it to sod off, but doesn't actively seek to undermine it unless it gets in his way. He's rather ruthless when it comes to enemies, but will spare them if their motives were reasonable. In the end, all he really wants is to be left alone.

Kara Hawke is Kara Thrace. Enough said.

A common trait in all my characters is their extreme overprotectiveness of their companions. BioWare loves to give the PC a tragic past, so I work with what the game gives me. Gotta love the angst.

If my Warden and my Hawke ever met up it'd be a battle of sarcasm.

Every chance I got with Hawke I was cracking jokes. Apparently in some places this was seemed disrespectful but I felt that someone had to take up the role after Anders turned into such a depressing companion.

My Warden tended to be a bit more noble but also cheeky on the side. You can't be a noble warden and then just run off to Antiva to be with a devilishly sexy assassin in an Awakenings epilogue. Still, she was friends to all of her team and tried to do everything morally, while cracking a joke.

Any character created by me will always be rife with sarcasm and ego.

Dragon Age: Origins.

1. Dwarf Female Castless. Dual Wielding Warrior. Converted to Chantry cuz she digs Lelianna(Chantry treated her better then Ancestors did).  Did everything she could to help chantry, so devoted, she was zealot like, spewing blood all over the place & whipping herself up in a frenzy to destroy everything in the Maker's way.(Reaver/Zerker/Templar/Champion)

2. Male Mage, Devoted fully to Morrigan, will destroy entire nations for her & has.  Watched & Helped the Templars destroy the Circle, because of this & he didn't like the paint on the wall. Basically her personal Death Knight(Fully armored Debuff/Buff Machine with Shield/Sword)(Arcane Warrior/Battlemage/Spirit Healer/Blood Mage)

3. Noble Male Rogue, very political & scheming, Had Zevran for his boy toy, Schemed on getting himself on the throne when it was said & done(but ended up becoming Anora's personal advisor.)  Because loved Zevran so much he wanted to go out kill people with him(ended up in end becoming better at it).  Destroyed Andraste's ashes, but was so good at it, Wynne never found out & lied to Lelianna so she never knew.(Assassin/Duelist/Shadow/Legionaire)

4. Male Dwarf Noble Sword n' Board Warrior, Very Regal & Commanded Respect, protected all around him.  Very loyal to Dwarfs & Family, even if they where not so much with him, hooked up with Lelianna(My dwarfs dig that crazy chick).  Preserved everything he could. (Champion/Zerker/Guardian/Templar)

5. Dalish Elf Chick 2H Warrior, Hated everything, hated she was forced into the wardens, destroyed everything she could get her hands on, until seeing Allistar.  Became his personal Killing Machine, protected him, destroyed anything trying to harm him, & kept herself tempered when she was around him. (Zerker/Champion/Templar/Reaver)

Dragon Age 2.

Male Warrior 2H, He Supported Mages, he couldn't stand anything happening to his sis, was a nice guy, went out of his way help all he could & write any wrongs.  Loved Elfs, Merrill was his true love, had his sister become a Grey Warden to save her.

Female Mage.  Supported Templars, was quick to anger & faster to kill anything, believed in locking down her fellow mage pubically.  She knew best way to help her kind out was to garner affection of Templars, hated Ander's out of control zealotness, killed him.  Proceeded to gain power she needed to rule over Kirkwall, had plans to bring Kirkwall under Fereldan rule & build a new circle under her watchful eyes.  Fenris serves her faithfully.
0 use of blood magic, She was Spirit Healer/Force Mage, just very political savvy & very shrewd.  Carver become a Grey Warden to survive.(One must have connections everywhere one can)

My Warden is a fem Amell, and my Hawke a fem mage. When I sat down to think about it (work was slow, sue me), they turned out to be two very similar people who ended up taking two very different paths.

Both were somewhat innocent in the beginning, one sheltered by one of the more forgiving circles, the other by a loving family. Both are pretty sarcastic, and both love the few people they let close very much.

What happens is that both my Amell and my Hawke are strongly influenced by the people they hold dear. Amell fell in love with Alistair, became best friends with Zevran, and treated Shale like an errant, grumpy little sister. Hawke fell in love with Anders, became best friends with Varric, and treated Aveline like an overbearing, but well-meaning and kindly older sister. But Amell had something of a knight on a white horse, and Hawke had a loving but skewed outsider. Alistair pumped Amell up to save Ferelden and the world- Anders convinced her of the unjustness of the system. Both women fell in love with men who cared about her deeply. One, unfortunately, was unhinged. The other tried to dump her, but Amell is selfish enough to want to stay at Alistair's side and convinced him it was the right thing to do.'

In the end, they were influenced by the few they stayed closest to, but Varric wasn't one to dissuade Hawke, and Anders ended up with most of the influence. The other thing is that Amell only gained- in love, in respect, in power. Hawke gained in power, and in respect and fear, but she lost most of her family- Bethany to the ogre, Carver to the Wardens, her mother to some freak- and so while Amell was able to help create a stable situation for herself, Hawke lost so much ground that, when the chance came, she leapt after the only person who could still tell her that he loved her.

I play ever file differently. I probably have a Warden that was similar to the way I played Hawke, but I also have a few that are quite different. The first person I make in any game(if given the option) is usually a badass type guy. Tells everyone off and kills anyone he has the option to.

I can't imagine playing any game the same exact way two or more times, so I need to change it up.

Yep. Could as well have been my Warden who moved to Kirkwall after the Blight. But I am glad it was Hawke, I really got fond of this character.

They always end up being chaotic good mages, generally diplomatic though with a sarcastic streak a mile long. Funny how that works, seeing as how I am neither a mage nor a mile long in real life.

Otherwise they're pretty much reflections of my own personality, yeah.

My main Warden is a human female mage who romanced Alistair (and he died slaying the Archdemon). Sola is rather serious slightly stand offish, but kind to others. My main Hawke is a female mage who is the complete opposite. Snarky smartass who embraces what she is. Cousins and they are total opposites, but they look alike. lol

If Drake Cousland and Marian Hawke ever wind up meeting each other (*crosses fingers*), there's going to be some kind of snarkiness singularity. Just two of the most smartass and sometimes acerbic people you'll ever meet.

Ultimately, both will attempt to do what they think is the right or necessary thing to do, even though that may not necessarily be the moral or good thing to do. Both had their own personal demons that I tried to avoid having them angst about but bled through from time to time - for Cousland it's the shattering of his former life and drive to take revenge on Rendon Howe, for Hawke it's her seeming inability to prevent her family from falling apart (Carver dying to the ogre, Bethany being forced to become a Warden to survive the taint, and I don't know what verb to use for Mama Hawke being done in by Kirkwall's version of Buffalo Bill). Both tend to be rather protective of their ragtag bunch of misfits, even though they'll butt heads with more than a few of them.
Heck, they even both romanced girls who happened to be apostate mages. B)

The upshot of all this is that I'll generally vary between the more sarcastic options and the more aggressive, to the point ones, depending on my mood and the situation at hand.
