Since the fan works will be coming soon, we might as well have discussion about them in one thread if there isn't another one already. And with a respectful nod to our story-teller-in-chief, of course.

This is a thread for discussing fanfiction. Here are some guidelines so that Varric won't be disappointed in everyone.




Varric's Rules for Story Tellers

1. Be polite to others, and do not assume offense.

This is a thread in which ideas, and fics, can be discussed. Constructive criticism is expected and encouraged: needlessly hostile flaming is not. If you disapprove of an idea, there are constructive ways to address flaws. Likewise, if your pet project idea is being knitpicked to death, do not take offense. You came here to offer and receive opinions: that includes negative ones.


2. Don't post your fanfiction here.

This is the thread to discuss fics in general, not display your own. As a courtesy to others, to yourself, and to hopeful thread length, don't post your stories here. Rather, make a thread in this sub-forum, and link your story. You can just as easily point people towards your stories from here, without making this your personal exhibition thread.


3. Don't fish for compliments by giving them.

Everyone likes to be appreciated, and to have their stories appreciated. Not only should good work be shared, but it should be enjoyed. At the same time, though, keep your maturity about it: a good work should be praised on its merits, and often will be. Praising others for the purpose of elicting reviews of your own stories is... unseemly.


4. Write! Share!

There's nothing to talk about if no one writes, and less to write about when no one is talking about their own ideas. Share those concepts, and spread the wealth of inspiration.


5. Enjoy!

Dragon Age is a good sized fandom, and Origins had its own well established fanfic writing community. Hopefully the same will take place for Dragon Age 2.
