I did NOT expect EA, however, to shoehorn in one of the most gratuitous fights in Dragon Age 2 just to further promote one of their games.
After having mown down a human wave of Templars of Stalingrad proportions, the First Enchanter comes to the conclusion that now is the opportune time to **** over his allies by absorbing nearby corpses and turning himself into a shambling abomination of human flesh.
Already clad in plate that had more than a passing resemblance to Isaac Clarke's engineer outfit I thought the look of the creature was striking it a bit too close to outside source material. But it was when the spine dislodged itself, creating entity that I made a mental "Oh, come on!" That thing is an exact replica of the Dead Space Leaper (yeah, I looked it up) and at that moment I knew that marketing had superceded storytelling.
Am I alone in thinking that this was one of stupidest moments of the game? Is this an instance of corporate oversight interfering with the creative process? Am I an imbecile who concerns myself with aesthetic details? Or has this already been discussed at length?

Whether that bears any resemblance to that Leaper creature you refer to I have no idea, but it's a Dragon Age creature, not some new creation for DA2.

Dude, it is a harvester, something from an Golems of Amgarrak, DLC for the first game.
Shhh. Lord knows if his thoughts are debunked so effectively so soon.

My contention that the fight is shoehorned in as is the obvious Dead Space connection, still stands, though.

Fair enough. I had no idea of there even being such a creature in established lore, not that I could read what the name of my enemies were because of the red font, anyway.

Oh, I think a lot of people - me included - agree the fight was shoehorned in.
But it is a DA2 creature.

I don't see how shoehorning a Harvester fight has anything to do with Dead Space.

I agree that it was an awful, AWFUL place for a homage. The first enchanter was one of the most interesting and likable characters in the game. It made no sense that he would do that.

But the connection doesn't exist because it is a DA2 creature...

This. I don't get it.
